Training & Child Benefit and Child Tax Credits

Post by Katymac »

DD is doing the pre-voc at Performers (finally decision made  )

& Performers say that whether or not DD will still be eligible for child benefit depends upon the person reading the form and that they might not let us know until September

If she has CB then I think we might still get Child Tax Credits as we will be responsible for 'keeping' her

But has anyone done it? Does anyone know?

Apparently it's all dependant upon the course being advanced or non-advanced ](*,)

BTW I understand if people would rather PM me than talk out loud on the board about money....but I would like to up date the thread with any actual facts we find out - I hope that is OK

I believe that children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way.......

So with my sample size of 2 I have100% result (I have a feeling that is why they question hundreds in a proper survey)

CB office said "it depends, send in the form" ](*,)

It does depend on if the course is classed as further or higher education and what qualification is achieved at the end of it. If it comes back with a 'no' ring them up and talk in person as that is often easier. I think your child benefit should continue but it is possible that someone could say no as I doubt their lists of eligible courses cover everything but I am sure a quick phone call and explanation of her age, daily hours etc would sort it out.
