Callbacks for Chichester and Manchester colleges

Post by showtunes »

Hi everyone
My dd has auditions for the mt course at Chichester uni and Manchester college soon,oh and also the liverpool theatre school. We were wondering if anyone has any experience of these places and when and if they do a call back. Unlike the other two places she has already auditioned at (arts ed and central)it is a full day audition with dance class, singing and an interview. There is no 2nd round so to speak. Do they get a call back or just let them know on the day or via ucas/post?
Thanks

Hi. She enjoyed both places. There were 50 applicants at arts ed and around 100 at central. She didn't get any further than the morning session at arts ed and was given a letter to say she hadnt been successful for sep 2013 entry. They kept 7 people back and most were boys.
At central she didn't realise how acting based it was. On their website they don't specify that out of three years there are only 2 mt modules. They had to do an acting workshop and pretend to be barbed wire which is only marginally better than the previous days applicants, they has to pretend to be the colour orange!! She is waiting to hear about a call back from there but says she doesn't want to go there now so wouldn't attend if called back. She says the place is amazing though and the staff at both places were lovely.

The completion is so fierce,1500 applicants at most places an they accept like 30 people! Chichester on monday. Will see what happens.

There are more applicants than that - around 3,000 applied when my DD did and they accepted 18

Central is more acting based - they do lots of plays, Shkespeare Chekov etc. but 2 big musicals for the public to see. However they have the usual dance and one-to-one and group singing each week. You can gauge each college's priorities by their audition - they atrt with dance in Arts Ed and you knly do the acting if you get tyhrough. It's the other way around in central.

sorry to hear about Arts Ed..my dd did not get passed the morning either, despite being offered a place in their 6th form 2 years ago, ( which we could not afford to accept in the end!)

DD has not applied for Central, and she has Chichester on Thursday....

Fingers crossed xxxxx

Well dd had her audtion today at Chichester. She says it went well. She was one of three who got a call back which was in the afternoon so no having to go back another day! They did say though that even if you didn't get a callback it didn't mean you won't get an offer.
Just the waiting game now to hear from ucas. Apparently it can take up to 10 days to process the offer even though the course leaders told dd today that they tell ucas their answer today.
Good luck to everyone.
