Annie Auditon song

HI
DD has an audtion for Annie (local) .
We have been advised not to sing anything from Annie so was wondering if anyone can advise on a good song.
DD has a fab voice and was thinking of going with When Christmas comes to town from The Polar Express,Only because its nearing that time of the year(otherwise i would say no)
Any ideas or feedback would be great.

How old is your dd and what sort of role is she going for.

I would advise staying true to type so to find something that is a children's theatre role, not too modern, preferably with a bit of twang.

A lot depends on whether she is a potential Annie/orphan or a potential adult role (if youth theatre)

Shes 8 and going for both Annie and orphan .She can do the twang bit (very well ) haha .
Do you think that song will work?

I don;t know that song I will google it and have a listen.

If she is going for Annie/an orphan then they won't want to hear for example a modern pop song or something from a pop based musical. They will want to hear something in a similar style (even if they don't say so) as it will make it easier to see whether the auditionee is suitable for that role.

I like it a lot. I guess it is a lot more modern but it doesn;t overly sound it and it is meant to be sung by children.

At recent local annie auditions they seemed to like belty songs in an american accent, ones that seemed to go down well included:
'Can't get a man with a gun' from Annie Get your Gun
'Smile'
'Good Morning Baltimore' from Hairspray...which is more modern but still belty and suitable for a child to sing

But I think Polar Express could be fab too especially if your dd is confident and happy with it.

DD has jsut played Miss Hannigan in a local production of this and loved it..x
