i may just be being paranoid after the past experiences with the film being based at the naturist resort, but as it is asking for girls as young as 5 to pose in swimwear my antennae was raised a little, what do you think?
new starnow posting is it ok?

I looked at this also ,but cant make my mind up...... would be helpful if for things of this nature a link to the photographers/ filmakers previous work was compulsory, so as to alay any fears.

Hear, hear Janine. The trouble is, if they did this, their would be nothing to stop you circumventing Starnow and contacting them direct I suppose.
I do hate the fact that you don't know who the job is for, before you send your details. This is a real problem with a site like Starnow. As far as I can tell, you don't have to give Starnow any kind of background information before submitting casting details which is why the scam merchants and scoundrels sometimes manage to post stuff on the site. I don't think Starnow do any kind of checking. I think they only react (and check things out) when a complaint is made.
Having said that though: I don't think this necessarily rings alarm bells - they are not asking for photos in swimwear for the casting and if they were interested in you and asked you to be a model you could always stipulate that you didn't want to model swimwear and see whether you would still be considered. After all, fashion shoots and catalogues do need people to model swimwear - even little ones! (Little people, I mean - not little swimming costumes
). It would be up to you what kind of photo you submitted to be considered for the job. I do think it's a bit much to insist on a video for a photographic job! But again, they're not insisting on a video in swimwear, they're just asking for applicants who already have a video/showreel on Starnow as far as I can judge. Can't help thinking they'll be cutting down the number of potentially good applicants by asking for this - especially as the pay is not spectacular. It looks as though it's for a photography student?

I saw this too, and had exactly the same reservations. Many people who advertise on Starnow do have a link to their work, and I think it should be that all do this. Of course, I think past bad experiences make you less trustful of anyone but I decided not to go ahead, especially as it was coupled with the fact that they wanted a video too. This is for photographic work, so I don't really see the importance of a video - but it could well be that I am super paranoid and am missing out on a great listing

I don't think you're missing out on much to be honest! I can't help thinking it would be good if Starnow could pass on these concerns to people who post jobs so that the genuine posters could provide reassurance and background information. This would seem to be in everyone's best interests - even Starnow's!
