I’m not sure about what a recall involves . My dd auditioned last year and had an interview at the same time . The interview just involved being asked about her dance education, schooling , exams and how you would finance the course. It was more of a chat to input information into the system rather than a job interview type situation.StartingLate wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 10:32 pm Just heard DD got recall for Italian Conti!! Videos submitted early Feb.
They advised they were hoping for onsite recalls, it would seem that the delay re communication was related to fact that they were waiting to see if onsite would be possible (it is not, will be a live zoom recall followed by zoom interview).
Perhaps it is similar story for those of you still waiting?
Hang in there, there will be a response!
Any tips for recall (dance) or interview?? It is her first recal.

Yes. Our DD friend was told this week Wilkes have a backlog too ...I get the impression that taped auditions has actually prompted record numbers to apply that may not have been able to logistically do so many applications beforeanastasia79 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 11:00 amIt’s good to see the breakdown. I got the impression from one of their many Instagram live sessions that they didn’t have a set number that they take each year. They said the final number would depend on how many people that applied. So like you said I think they’re looking to take more on this year.amo185 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 9:36 am On the Urdang audition support day they gave current numbers: 108 on degree, 26 on Diploma, 15 on Foundation and 30 on AVT. They said 2,000 apply across their courses. We had thought there were more. But they didn't say how many started on these courses or how many they would take this year but said numbers were flexible so sounds like they might take more. Could be worth asking if it's a deciding factor.

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
DS has just heard from Performers after his 6th March audition and they offered him a place! Having emailed Italia Conti to reject their offer they have now emailed back to tell him they really want him and that they only take 40 students hoping he'll change his mind!!!
I hope your DD gets on well with her recall and that others have had good news from Performers today. I guess DS must be quite talented but it's always tricky to actually know, isn't it? I had to ask his dance teacher if he was actually any good (rose tinted glasses and all that).

Congratulations on his offer and yes he’s clearly very talented and one that appeals to multiple schools!!!icantdance wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 4:39 pm DS has just heard from Performers after his 6th March audition and they offered him a place! I didn’t realise how small Italia Conti’s intake is. Is that 40 for the MT degree programme? One of DD’s friend has had a recall for this and another for the Trinity Diploma in Dance. They’re both nervously waiting for an answer.

I think that's the degree. No, I didn't realise it was that small either. It was exactly 3 weeks after the recall when DS heard. Fingers crossed for them.anastasia79 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 5:19 pmCongratulations on his offer and yes he’s clearly very talented and one that appeals to multiple schools!!!icantdance wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 4:39 pm DS has just heard from Performers after his 6th March audition and they offered him a place! Not sure about the numbers on the degree course but they only take 4O on the MT diploma . It’s based on 2 sites so 20 on each I think ( Barbican & Guildford) . The dance diploma usually only has around 10.icantdance wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 5:52 pmI think that's the degree. No, I didn't realise it was that small either. That's wonderful news icantdance. Well done to your DS.
Fantastic to have a choice - but not easy as so much to consider. Both degrees are very new unlike their diplomas. Can you get to visit? Do you know students on both? Will Conti moving to Woking make a difference? Guess it's down to gut feeling or whether your DS could be considered for a scholarship perhaps? What a lovely dilemma! Good luck to him and with whatever he chooses to do

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
Thanks amo185. DS is going to Bird - he's had 4 offers but Bird and Laine were his top 2 choices. We have been very fortunate that he auditioned 2 years ago when he was 15 so we've been to all of them except Italia Conti. We went down to Bird on Tuesday to see his accommodation (already booked) and back to Bird, although obviously we couldn't go in but we were able to chat to Naomi for an hour outside in the glorious sunshine. I do know how lucky we are and how difficult it must be for people this year who haven't had the opportunity to visit.amo185 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 9:15 pm That's wonderful news icantdance. Well done that's fab news....and accommodation sorted! How great must that be to have it all settled. We still have no choice made here until the last two offers are back. Accommodation though stresses me out! We luckily viewed most places a year early for open days. That's my best advise to anyone as it means you're not juggling viewing days off school in the same year as auditions.icantdance wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 7:53 amThanks amo185. Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
Accommodation has been soooo stressful. DS has been lucky. There's some student accommodation around Bird but not much, so we're fortunate that even though he missed out on his first choice, he's got a good room in a student flat in a small block of student flats. He's very happy with it, and liked it more when we saw it than from photos!! Nightmare to get that far though .... I hope you find something good dancelifemum. Being on the social media chats helps though, so I'd advise all DCs to do that as students share things. Wasn't like that in my dinosaur days.... I'm so old we didn't have computers let alone mobile phones!!!

Re: Auditioning for 2021 entry
No ...apparently Performers start a group chat soon? Bit still awaiting to hear....Wilkes sort for you so that would be ok. Urdang we have an option to share on the back burner plus we have older student friends at most colleges that have given us advice and some that are leaving their flats this year. Hoping it will be ok, it is def not like sorting regular uni accommodation that's for sure. When we have done that for older children it has been easy as it was all booked in advance. I know in the past even if others haven't got first choice of rooms things have shifted during the year as some move or (sadly) leave....trying to remain calm and what will be will be.icantdance wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 8:59 am Accommodation has been soooo stressful. DD has now received her Laine offer too. Glad the postman brought a yes or we might have had a miserable Easter weekend in our house.
