Hi, my daughter has a place at Performers in Sept which is great but me are really struggling to find accomodation. Any hints or tips would be very welcome
I text a couple of those on the list but never heard back. We’re now looking at a train to Gravesend, ferry to Tilbury and a train to Stanford. LONG!
The only thing I would say is to bear with them as they are in the middle of the year 1 and year 2 assessments. All their students then have a week off.
I hope they start letting the reserve know after then. The waiting is awful. Especially when my dd doesn't have a firm place that we can afford yet.
I feel for you as all the uncertainty is so awful. What has she been offered at the moment?
Laine but no dada and bodyworks one year intensive as they withdrew their diploma place.

My sister in law was thinking of letting out rooms in her house for students- I can't remember exactly how many rooms, 5 maybe?
She was trying to persuade her husband the last time I spoke to her. They are located in Shoeburyness so it isn't exactly close to Performers but if any if you are interested I can speak to her and see if they are any further along in deciding, I know they were thinking of asking Tiffany and Masters too.
Please pm me if interested to save clogging up this feed.
Thanks lotoslaffs but just checking the distance and travel options and it would be too far away with cost etc for us as it's a couple of changes on transport but thank you so much really appreciate it
From a mum of a Performers student who was in your position last year (when there were Les students that year!) my top tip would be to leave your contact details with as many landlords as possible. We rang around all on the list last year and couldn’t find anything then a week later someone called us back asking if we were still needing a room as someone had dropped out, turned out to be the most amazing house and landlady and wouldn’t have found it if I hadn’t have asked them to contact me in the first place. My dd is moving to Wilkes but as soon as she told her housemates she was moving out they had a first year who wanted to move so current students do tend to get ‘first dibs’. A lot of pre-voc/first years ended up living in Basildon in private flats and travelling, would be interesting to know if Performers have extra landlords this year with numbers increasing as I know they said they’d had a lot sell up last year which is why we struggled!

So decision finally made - ArtsEd it is for my DS for next year. Having the joys of searching for accommodation now!
Congrats for your DS. Likewise mine has accepted his offer at ArtsEd however we are still holding out for some form of funding. The feedback from the freshers page apparently is that a lot are holding on until they know what's happening in September with regards to accomodation, however ArtsEd have confirmed to him that in September it will be a mixture of face to face and online classes. Just a little concerned as to how much space an MT student needs for online classes, particularly if they are in a house altogether and all in the same boat.
Yes that is the challenge although as you say Arts have confirmed it will be a mix of both. Finding anything with space in London is a challenge and even more so on a budget. Sadly no additional funding options for us
Do you mind me asking has he received any funding at all as you say no additional funding options? We heard back today and no DADA for us which is a disappointment just a suggestion of applying for the student loan/maintenance which we have already done and are just waiting to hear back. They also suggested applying for an ArtsEd Bursary of a maximum of £3000 which is means tests, therefore I'm guessing we'd get very little of that. At a push we could get the fees together for the first year but it's going to be hard, but it would be near on impossible doing the same for all three years. I can't help but wonder if we were not going through this pandemic whether things would have been different, but I guess we'll never know.

Yes, looking it does seem a bit far, nearer to Masters I think, good luck

He will do the usual student loan stuff but as things stand we are over the threshold for DADA so there was no point in applying.

Thanks for the advice , we are looking at Basildon too and not sure there are any more landlords, the accomodation list is quite small for so many places
