So, DS will be auditioning this year for diplomas/degrees in Musical Theatre - it's come around very quick!
He's a strong singer/actor, and whilst he is reasonably competent in dance, it's not his strong point. Colleges he definitely wants to apply to are Mountview, Trinity Laban, GSA, Central, Urdang, Bird & Laine. Ones we're probably ruling out as we think they might be too dance-focused are Performers, Masters, Italia Conti, Arts Ed, Bodyworks. Anyone got any thoughts on this, or any other suggestions?
Also, we haven't been able to find out much about Millennium - does anyone have any info on this one?
Musical Theatre courses that are NOT too dance-based

I think Arts Ed are less dance based than Urdang, Laine and Bird. DS applied last year (he is strongest in dance) and found the Arts Ed and Mountview auditions had less dance than the others he applied for (Urdang, Bird, Laine and LSC). He had offers from all but Arts Ed and eventually chose Mountview as he thought it would strengthen his singing and acting more than the others. He is loving it there. Good luck to your DS.

I would agree with ajbew - Laine, Urdang, Bird, Performers are all very strong dance colleges, but all offer Musical Theatre, I think the idea is by the end of your training you are triple threat - strong in all
Don't write off the "dance" colleges it will help him improve in that area - dd is in 2nd year at Laine, boys are outnumbered by girls but a lot of the boys come as "singers" whereas most of the girls arrive as "dancers". try and go to open days/shows etc to get a feel of the colleges and keep an open mind
You will find masses of useful advice on here - good luck

My dd is also more actor/singer and has just started at LCM (see previous post) which I can recommend. She also applied to Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Chichester which are more triple threat but take people with less dance training. I'd say Arts Ed are still looking for a very high level of dance at the audition but may be different for the boys. She did have an offer from Italia Conti so I wouldn't rule it out as they they do have pathways within the MT diploma that are more acting or singing similar to Urdang.

Several of the colleges have 'Boys days' so you can see the level of dance they are looking for
Which to be perfectly honest is less for boys than it is for girls

The Hammond in Chester offer a BA Honours course in MT, validated by the University of Chester I think. I certainly know of some boys there who have been very strong singers and actors who have done the diploma (BA is new this year) and graduated into paid employment.
I posted on another thread about the CDET conference which is a day of classes and Q&A with a lot of the accredited colleges in attendance, certainly some of those you have enquired about.
