Yes SNN, I'm afraid I recognised myself in a few of those

The "Why are you Heeerre??!" bit is hilarious but I kind of know that I have stuck with my original interpretation when asked to change it a few times. It's as if you get stuck in this really dreadful groove and cant get out of it. What I really loved about the actor's performance of these bits was that there was just an infinitesimal acknowledgement of the instruction and his eyes just start to do what he has been asked and then he launches in to exactly the same rendition. I think it's acting of a high calibre!

I know why I get stuck - and I do now make a huge effort not to do it - especially now I've been on the other side of a casting table a few times. The problem is the fear that if you do it a different way it won't seem truthful and will look like bad acting. You have to try to get in to a different mind set really quickly. However, I do know that the CD/Director just wants to see whether you can change and won't necessarily judge you harshly if you have a go at something and it doesn't quite work. Convincing yourself of that in a stressful audition situation can be tricky though!

Pg, I have tried to stop this habit by doing the script in a few different ways and by not setting it in stone (which I tend to do)!
I loved the video you posted as well! I couldn't stop laughing when she dropped into the splits (in those heels!)
I loved her singing as well, she could be a great singer if she sang properly

We were heading for the bus after a workshop yesterday, and the girls were discussing script work. 'Why are you heeeeere?' featured heavily - and hilariously - in their take on it. I fear it has become a family tradition already!
