It took a good few weeks for DD to hear from Manchester Met ... here's hoping it's positive news. Sorry to hear it was a no from LIPA :(

Last year thank goodness ... so glad all the auditioning is behind us! A levels and drama school auditions are a rather stressful combination!!!

Completely agree!! So difficult to keep ds focused on A levels as well, he would much rather be spending time working on speeches etc. Probably would be in previous posts but where did your dd go in the end last year Sapphire?

We heard from central in 5 days and chichester in two weeks, both through ucas. I was told they the course leaders have to get their heads together at the end of a couple of weeks of auditions to decide who to make an offer to. They then inform their admin dept who have to upload the info. And bear in mind if they are auditioning up to 40 a day over a couple of weeks at a time then that can take a while. As soon as they send the info to ucas then ucas update the info and send you an email pretty quickly.

Good luck, all the waiting is horrible. ](*,)

That's great Sapphire :) Ds liked the feel of LIPA, but not meant to be, this year anyway. Did your dd get a recall from Manchester Met last year?

Sadly not ... she really liked Man Met too! It was one of her first auditions though and after Man Met she completed threw out all her monologues and started again with new ones ... got recalls for all her auditions after that lol ... a brave move which paid off thank goodness!

We are 3 down one, one to go but have finished written exams for now, thank goodness. (does anyone else do Maths & Musical Theatre?!!) I'm beginning think that a year off wouldn't be a bad idea!

Central let us know in April now. We've just got Mountview to go in March, so a very welcome gap in which to do Drama prac exam! Fingers crossed for good news from Man for your DS Nigelben [-o<

Congratulations to your ds. I think its just the luck of the draw sometimes as they have so many equally talented people to choose from and sometimes its down to dynamics and who has been made offers so far. its a cruel cruel business and as some have said to ny dd its not a reflection on you if you are rejected but the people picking are casting for future shows show cases so if there is someone similar they have offered a place to eg tall blond, small dark , black or white , you might lose out . The sad thing is that all our children want is to get on a degree course or go to drama school to continue their training and do what they really love unlike their counterparts on academic courses where they are offered a place subject to grades often without interview and dont have all these stresses to go through unless of course going for both. Unfortunately, its getting the offer that is the hard thing for our kids doing acting or MT with so few places offering the courses particlarly MT degrees and its as if the grades are secondary, although they then have to get the grades.

Has anybody ever got a place on a MT degree course late on or through UCAS clearing or know of any who have. Presumably this is difficult as presumably you would still need to audition. Sorry if I sound a bit stupid about things.

Has your dd got any more auditions left to go Dorothy? I'm afraid I dont know of anyone applying for mt after the us as deadline, just other subjects and they were successful. Perhaps ring the places your dd is interested in and see how many places they have given out yet? They auditon lots of people but may not give all thier places out if they just dont get the right mix.I'm sure it's not too late yet,its not as if your trying to apply in April,it's still early in the year. Good luck with it all.

Thanks Showtunes. She just has GSA now and RCS to try for . RCS is a bit of a longshot as they only take about 18 and that is via CUCAS so it doesnt effect her UCAS choices. GSA is probably going to be a no because of the sheer volume who apply. She is still waiting for a date for GSA which is a bit annoying as she asked for a Manchester audition and they still haent been arranged yet. I rang the other day and they said a possibility it may be 20 February and she really wants to do this one but the frustrating thing is you cant apply for anywhere else through UCAS until you hae rejections from them all so until GSA is sorted she cant try elsewhere.

She just got a no from LCM which is a shame as she really liked it there and felt it had gone well and was given a fair crack there as she was there from 10 to 3.30pm. If she gets nowhere this year she will try again there next year but she really wants to go somewhere this year if possible (although not necessarily anywhere). Anyway I guess what will be will be
