Star now profile

Post by Coco »

Hi Guys,
Have finally got my dd a Star now profile and decided to pay for a short time to see if there's anything worth her applying for.
I don't really know anything about using these websites and so I would be grateful if those who have a handle on it, would be kind enough to check out what I've done and tell me if there's anything I should or shouldn't do to it !

My dd say's she remembers your dd very well moonshine and says she worked with her and that she is a really lovely girl. Thanks for checking out the SN page, I'm still trying to work out what I'm doing with it tbh !

Thank so much Tikka that's really kind of you. Thanks very much for adding to favourites Francescamum. Could you tell how that works ? I don't understand what happens when you do that, or how I would do, can't find anything in the site information. I'm such a technophobe, I can't believe I've got her a working profile. My dh was quite surprised, cos he didn't think I could do it. Ha!

Hi Coco,
Gorgeous girl, I have added her to my favourites...
If you go into the Ideas & Feedback section there is a thread called Helping Each other.
We have all listed our Starnow pages in there, you can go through and add everyone to your favourites (just tick in the box under the profile pic, then add your dd to the list and everyone will do the same for you, good way to boost their profile.
Then you can alook at everyone elses and se what they have posted.
I personally prefer the look of the kidscastingcallpro page think it's more professional but unless you pay (and I think it's pricey) you can't have all your pics on. Starnow is chaep and cheerful as they say.

You can compare the 2 here, I only pay for Starnow. Have just set up a Casting Networks page ( good job I only work part time) you need an agency pin for that one but looks pretty good. Hard to add pics too though as all files are too big, anyone else having that same problem?????

Thanks very much cops22, that's very nice of you. I will have to psych myself up to have a go at that although it might be a little beyond my current level of skill on the computer (which is approximately equivialent to a chimpanzee randomly bashing at the keyboard ! )

Sorry to be so painfully thick, but how does the favoriting people boost their profile ? And how does boosting it help? Does it make their listing appear sooner or something ?

Regarding KCCP I was paying the subscription for about 6 months, up until about a month ago, but there seemed to be hardly anything listed for her to apply for. Maybe it's different for other age groups, and clearly I don't get the concept of boosting the profile, so perhaps I was missing something there, lol !
I do agree with you about the kccp site looking more upmarket. Starnow looks more Daily Mirror to Kccp's telegraph unfortunately in my opinion.

Ha ha ha good comparison...... I only like it coz of all the pics you can add.... and to be honest once my 6 months is up i'm not sure i'll pay again as not much on there either, not for our area anyway.

Who knows about the profile boosting... there are names that appear at the top of the list that have far less profile views, favourites castings etc etc than others....... in the FAQ on Starnow it does say they use a combination of factors to decide who goes to top of the list, personally I think it seems to have no logic..... some kids yes, some no....... blurry profile pics no views etc etc.....
Anyway, someone else on here suggested it so I just went aloong with it having just joined myself thinking it couldn't hurt.

Actually apart from the pics situation the Casting Networks profiel is very easy to do, it gives you drop down menu for all different catergories, then boxes for role, director etc etc..... it's really good, you can list every and I do mean every skill you have from skydiving, stunt work to can you eat a banana... ok well maybe i'm exagerating there but the list is rediculous. If you request a pin from Abacus i'm sure they will send you the link..... thnk it be used more and more.... it's free now but they say they will charge later so maybe worth signing up while still free.

Wow Coco - your dd is fabulous!! She is the same age as my dd1 who also has a SN page - all 3 of mine have them but I am a bit rubbish at keeping up with it :? Looks good to me - I too have no idea how favouriting boosts a profile??? We had KCCP until it became a monthly expense - just have the free one now, but I agree, I prefer the layout etc.

Here is my dd1's profile so you can compare etc - would take me about a week to find the other 2 but will post at some point :)

Missmoneypenny, your dd's profile looks pretty amazing to me....... she has stunning photo's ( she really is gorgeous) and her work is up to date or so it looks to me, can't ask for more than that.
Thousands of views, how long has she been on there???? we been a couple of months and at 600 my dd would love to see it hit the 1000..... but as you may have noticed no castings, there is nothing up here unless you're a boy it seems.....

Love it when you recognise someone in print or on tv as someone's dc from NAPM :) so will def keep a look out for her she is very busy :)

That's really nice of you to say so cops22 :) It is typical that she is always busy when it's exam time!! Just doing her AS's - all sciences and maths so some serious work needed! You are right - there seem to be lots of jobs for boys at the mo - but I am sure the trend will change - lots of luck to your dd - how old is she? xx

She just turned 13 but is very small for her age so really hoping that stops her from the dreaded slow period that everyone talks about when they get over 16's to play down, she can easily pass for 11 so let's hope it helps.

I've been on here for hours ooops, always amazed how my afternoon disappears, was supposed to be choreographing this aft.... not time now as she'll be home from school then off we go to singing lesson!!!
Whhoooppppssss, oh well, there's always tomorrow
