Hi,
If you see a casting that you know you are right for but you cannot make the filming/audition date is it ever worth applying anyway in case the date changes (as it often does in this industry)? Is this ok as long as you mention that you have trouble with said date in the application so that they don't waste their time contacting you if the date is 100% set in stone? Or will it just seem really unprofessional?

Re: Filming Dates
I have applied for things for my dd knowing she can not make the audition date as they are often willing to go from her show reels, so I never let an audition date put me off applying. I always tell them in the application that the audition date is not convenient but give them a link to dd's show reels so that they then have a choice of still considering her. She has had a few jobs offered without attending audition on the strength of her show reels.
Occasionally I have applied for something when the filming dates have clashed with something else because as you say, the filming date can change, but I would always inform them of the clash if she was offered an audition then they can choose if they still want to see her.
You would also have to only consider/apply for one job at a time if you made sure you were available for audition dates and filming dates for every project.
Sometimes we have 3 or 4 balls in the air at the same time and wait to see which land first!!
For instance Sparticle Mysteries, Danni's Castle and The Knot are all filming during the summer - would you only apply for one of them to make absolutely sure you were available if you got a part, probably not. It is unlikely that someone would get auditions for all three, very unlikely that they would get call backs for all three and a miricle to be offered a part in all three (unless your name is Elle Fanning of course!!).
So after all that waffling, to summarize, just apply and see where it goes! (unless it is a play, where performance dates can not be changed).
