open mic

Post by oscar »

Has anyone on here had any experience with open mic? DS auditioned today and got through & we then had to pay £30 (Allegedly refundable when he attends the next round) Got given tons of ticketes to sell and it seems like a huge money making enterprise & I feel so foolish for getting caught up in. I've now got a ton of tickets that I don't want & certainly don't want to pay for at £8 a throw !!

They seemed to be letting loads through to the next round. If people didn't do particularly well, they often let them hv another go. Definitely quantity not quality. It is a money making scheme, but perfectly legal. I personally don't want to be wrapped up in it . I know I will ose my deposit, but I hope that is all that it involves.

Are the previous postings about Open Mic UK?

I'm not interested in it for my girls, but I have passed a link on to a friend and - having read this - wonder whether it should come with a health warning, financial or otherwise?

Any updates or further advice would be very gratefully received!

It certainly appears to be a money spinner. It costs to enter, but as they said if you turn up for the second audition. You are however expected to sell loads of tickets & advertise for them. It really wasn't my sort of thing I felt really pressured by the whole experience.
