Audition help
Hi guys. I have an audition tomorrow for a reccuring part in a Bristish-soap. I was given two different script scene 'sides' on Friday but have been working full time all weekend, so although I am familiar with them, I have not been able to memorise them. I was just wondering if its acceptable to hold the sides whilst in an audition to refer to if needed, opposed to slipping up and forgetting completely? I don't want to come accross as unprofessional but at the same time forgetting lines could be even worse. Cheers, Bebo

Re: Audition help
I once had an audition where it said just to familiarise myself with the script, not learn it by heart. Although i tried to learn it all and didnt really refer to it and got nervous about the exact words and messed it all up a bit to be honest
On the other hand, for the inbetweeners, i wasn't given the sides in advance but arrived half hour early and got to familiarise myself with them, and they wanted us to take the script in with us which we could look at and refer to. Doing that, i was much more relaxed and the lines flowed much better as i knew them generally but if i had a moment of memory loss i could have a brief look to get me back on track.
Therefore, basing it on my own experience i would just look over them as much as possible and not necessarily learn them by heart. If you can take it in with you that would be great and i don't think its unprofessional (at least not based on my experience), but if not then just do your best and improvise based on the script, what you think your character would say.
As long as you dont just stand and read straight off the paper (which i doubt you would do) i do think its acceptable to keep hold of them. Although i might be entirely wrong...
Good luck anyway!! I'm sure you'll do just fine!

Hey guys, thanks a lot for your answers and sorry for the late reply, my laptop died on me last weekend! Jellybabies it was for Hollyoaks, not heard back though so i'm guessing I didn't get it if filming is next week, hope yours went well!
