Filling in licence forms
We're filling in a licencing form and don't know wether(under the section, has you child taken part in a performance which didn't need a licence) we have to declare drama group and dance group showcases. As parents we did pay to get in to the showcases, presumably the tutors organised some kind of paperwork/blanket licence. Can anyone clear this up. Officially as that reads we would have to declare school plays as well. The more I think the more confused I get, help!!!

Re: Filling in licence forms
As far as I'm aware, there isn't such thing as a blanket licence, (I'm sure if there is, a NaPM will put me right) so I think they never got a licence! We don't have a section on our forms asking about performances not requiring licence but I think the drama group would have put the entrance fee down as 'a donation' to get around this or charged for programmes, so I would say it was 'a performance not needing a licence.'

Whatever licence it was, and I'm not sure about blanket licences either, but if it was issued by the same local authority you can just put "see records" that's what I always do anyway, they will have all the info

Re: Filling in licence forms
Performances organised by an academic school do not require a licence and don't have to be declared.
Many local authorities will grant a "body of persons exemption" for groups such as am dram, gang shows and dance schools as long as there are no more than four performances and no school is missed. Some local authorities go even further and say no licence is needed at all for less than 4 performances in 6 months with no school missed. I am on the border of four local authorities and each do things slightly differently.
it is these performances that are referred to on the form. I have organised many such performances and most of the time parents are totally unaware as I keep the details required on record. By listing performances which have not required a licence it means they can keep track of the 4 in 6 months rule.
