Hi everyone, I was wondering if you could help me with something,
whenever my agent gets a brief that she thinks i fit she puts a brief notice on my online profile and i have to tick interested or not interested, and then she will send my CV to them if I am interested. She sent me a notice for a big TV show on Tuesday and then said she had sent my CV off and I haven't heard anything since. How long does it take the casting directors to decide who they want to see? Should I forget about it or could I still be in with a chance do you think?

Re: How long before auditions
Hi there!
It's definitely best if you can just forget about it. Sometimes it does take a while for CD's to make shortlists of people they want to see - there isn't a set amount of time that they take. Obviously, if you know the dates of the auditions then you can put it behind you once the audition date has past! It is difficult to put these things out of your mind, as I know only too well
. but you will be driven mad if you dwell on it! If you do get an audition, it will be a pleasant surprise, but most of the time you won't hear back - that's just the nature of it. If it's TV drama for a small role there may only be a very, very few people called in for audition. (The last one I went up for, there were only three of us).

Re: How long before auditions
Hi, Thanks for the advice I think I will just try forget about it and if I do get an audition it will be great! It was for a soap, all I got told was new regulars audition, so they may be casting multiple roles. Do they normally have a long casting period? I have never done TV, just films and commercials.
Re: How long before auditions
That might well involve a much more prolonged auditions process (I've never been in the fortunate position of being called in for that!). I would think they'll see quite a few people for this kind of thing, so I shouldn't count yourself out! Probably best to forget about though if you can. I'm guessing there will have been a heck of a lot of submissions for it, unless it's only going out to a select few agents. Fingers crossed for you

I will try my best to forget but you can imagine my excitement at even the mention of being put forward for a soap

Re: How long before auditions
Well, I never heard anything from it and then I get a notification saying I have been submitted again for the same soap? This cant be a bad sign? surely if they didn't like me they would have said so the first time?
Re: How long before auditions
I'm sure that's positive! Although, without wishing to be a wet blanket, being submitted for something is more to do with your agent feeling you are suitable, rather than the CD agreeing that you are.
Think positively though! Your agent obviously feels you are in with a chance of being seen and obviously the agent must be on the CDs circulation list so that's positive too. Perhaps this time you'll get called in. I hope so. Keep us posted!
