Stagecoach Easy Stages 2011 - The Secret Garden

Post by willali »

Any one else's DC going to audition for this, or involved last year (My FAir Lady)? Interested to know anything about the audition. They have to be at the venue from 10am till 5pm and whilst they have been given some dialogue and a song to learn I wonder what on earth they will be doing for that length of time!!

They will be taking part in a dance and drama workshop, then doing the individual audition.

Dd is not going for it due to the distance involved, I feel that she is too young to board away from home for two weeks and we would not be able to stay down there for that length of time.

Thanks island! I'm sure the distance aspect will put a lot of people off - we are just lucky it is up the road! Not getting our hopes up though - with a less than 1 in 10 chance of getting in we are looking at this for the experience aspect mostly!

I did My fair lady last year and Auditioned for the Secret Garden last week. Its great experience for anyone, even just going to the audition, you really get a feel for what other auditions will be like. Anyone skeptical about bording, Everyone is really lovely there, Parents can become chaperones and stay with their child. If not, the children can go home each week. Bording is a great experience for any child and the chaperones and CPOs are amazing and really help to make the experience even more magical. :)

No you are invited to audition if you have attended Stagecoach continuously for a certain number of years. Can't remember how many as we have been getting the invite for a few years (my dd and ds have done 6 years with stagecoach  ). Auditionees don't have to be in the agency.
He could go and he could shine, not just stay here counting time,
Son, we've got the chance to let him live

I've just looked this up and it looks really interesting, DD was too young, not 8 until January but looking forward to applying for next year. Good luck to those auditioning.

My Dd really enjoyed the audition process- her first "open" (ish!) audition. Great experience for her. She was quite surprised at how many kids had not learned lines / songs and so had to read the material- don't know if that is usual (and so a waste of time us going through it all ad nauseam beforehand!). We don't hear back till end of March but Dd being very cool about it all which is probably good!

Can anyone assist me with information about the boarding / chaperone part for the 2011 Easy stages show based on previous experience. My daughter has just had her Secret Garden audition (so this question might be jumping the gun a bit seeing as she may not get through) but I heard horror stories about having to stay in london consequtively for 3 weeks as you only get a Sunday off. Does anyone know if the child can board without the parent or does the parent have to accompany the child and remain for the entire 3 weeks ?? This would just put my mind at ease and probably make the decision on whether the whole thing is feasible or not. Either way my daughter loved the audition process, albeit was a bit nervous, but it was great experience whatever the result.

You can do either as far as I know. If you live locally or prefer to arrange your own accommodation you can stay with her or she can stay in the boarding accommodation
