License etc?

Not sure if this is the right area of the board to post this so feel free to move (mod)

I hear a number of you mention the requirement of a license from the LEA - what's all that about? Is that required on a case by case basis after successful auditions? Are there any set criteria that have to be met etc? Does it only apply to actual assignments or to auditions etc too...?

Apologies for all the questions but these are the things I know nothing about being a 'newbie' an' all

A licence is required only for actual confirmed jobs..not castings/auditions. Your agent would usually arrange this for you..and depending on which LEA you come under will depend how quickly your child will get a licence. Some require 21 days notice...which many jobs these days won't give you that! And without a licence your child can't work!!
Your agent will require you to sign the Part 2 of the licence (they usually arrange this when you first sign up), 2 recent passport photos, birth certificate (copy) and a GP letter (you usually have to pay for) that says your child is fit to work. If you "google" a search under your LEA for child performance licence, you should find further details and what applies to you in your area. Hope this helps x

So, so, so much involved. It's all very good, and am glad that they do it - but it seems that a dodgy LEA could scupper long term chances for the children that are involved with them.
