son has asked for The Complete Works of shakespeare for Christmas - have looked on Amazon and there are so many different ones. Can anyone advise which one is best to buy

hi shortguy j has 2 versions cos he needed them for contis il let you know which ones best.they were both on a list of things he had to get so il look over the weekend and let you know.see you soon xxx

son has the oxford shakespeare - second edition - it certainly reads easier than the alexander text, and came to us recommended, but the latter might give you a better idea of speaking it - curl'd instead of curled say, to show a shorter syllable

there would be somethng to be said, if you have access to a large bookshop, to go and have a look together through a few versions

I always get York Notes to accompany anything Shakespeare my dd is doing - they're invaluable interpretation - just thought I'd add this !!!

unfortunately, when my hamlet-obsessed dd went to buy for her gcse (much ado) she bought the hamlet notes but not the much ado ones
