We stayed in Premier Inn Basildon. We used A&B taxis to get to Performers. I’m believe there is a bus that runs from close to hotel but it seemed to run once per hour.
A&B have an app, and were very responsive. I think fare was around £7.
Is you DD 18 or over? As hotel probably won’t accept under 18 in a room on her own. And she would need to bring ID to prove her age. We saw a young couple turned away in Premier Inn Sidcup last year because they didn’t have ID to show they over 18.
Best of luck to your DD!

Thankyou, she is 18 so shouldn’t have a problem there- I’ll remind her to take id though as she is pretty young looking. There’s a cancellable rate so if it turns out there is someone to share a lift with we can always cancel it. Thanks all for your help, fingers crossed for some positive news!

Has anyone had any experience with waiting lists eg Conti, Arts Ed, Mountview, Urdang? From what we can see they all work quite differently.

Hi

I just wanted to thank everyone who had given me advice either by DM or on this thread for my DD's offer for foundation at Conti.
All really good advice - she's been back and forward over what to do but has just accepted the place!
Now very excited to be there for a year - just got to sort accommodation now!!

thanks again and goody luck to everyone else :)

Not sure if the Woking halls will be open this year. A lot of students stay here https://futuregeneration.com/student-ac ... n-village/
It is a bit more expensive but the place is amazing and has loads of facilities.
I’m sure she’ll be very happy.

There is a huge range what people do, lots of people do live in Gilden Village, but is pricy.
DD has been in a flat in Woking this year and quite a few other people are in Woking. She has enjoyed being able to walk easily to college. Woking is very safe DD works the back shift at Slug and Lettice finishing at 4 am and then walks home. There are small supermarkets in Woking, but she has a car so goes to Asda or Morrisons.
Next year she is going to move to Guildford as this is where the clubs are and whenever they go out it’s in Guildford. There are specialist student agents in Guildford due to the Uni of Surrey being there. Flats/houses are cheaper that Gliden village (Conti term dates are first week September to end July so you need 49 week contract). People found housemates through the Facebook and Insta groups which will start up very soon. Last year it was May, but first callbacks weren’t till April last year.

Hi my dd was on the Mountview wait list last year. As it was for the BA Hons acting and she was only 17 we didn’t hold out much hope. She was planning a year out and then we had a call on 26th Aug offering her a place. So it’s true if you are willing to wait then the wait lists do stay open until the very last minute.

My DS is on the reserve list for Acting at Central. They only take 16 students, so he's proud to have got that far, but we can't really sense whether it is even a tiny bit likely to turn into a real offer. In teh meantime the UCAS deadline is looming in May and he doesn't know whether to accept GSA, which I'm sure would be great, or take a gamble and follow his dream, and try again for his top choices next year. He's still at school so a gap year isn't necessarily a bad idea, but I'm worried he might do worse next time around than he did this year!

Can anyone tell me how long did it take to hear back from GSA after submitting the self tape please. Dd submitted hers in February and hasn’t heard anything either way. Is it normal to take this long? Meanwhile she’s also waiting to hear back from her Rose Bruford recall, which she really loved.

Wow, he’s done amazingly well, congratulations to your ds! But a tricky situation to be in, maybe leave it as long as possible before the ucas deadline and email Central to try and find out where on the waiting list he is. It is a big gamble, but if he feels Central is where his heart is and having gotten so close, I understand his reasons for wanting to try again next year.

I can’t remember exactly how long it took for DS to hear back after self-tape but I’m pretty sure it was less than 4 weeks but I know they say it can take up to sux weeks. We are having a similar frustrating wait from RCS! I would email admissions, they are all used to being asked. And on that note I’d love to know if anyone knows of recalls at RCS?

Also still waiting from submitting in Feb for MT. Think they say up to 6 weeks. Last year heard within 2 weeks. So don’t know but I can only think it’s down to who they see and like as they go thru recalls. Agonising though, just having to forget about it. Fingers crossed for rose bruford for your DD!

Thank you, it’s good to know she’s not the only one waiting 😅
