Hello. My dd has accepted a place at Urdang. We are starting to look at accommodation options. She will be 17 when she starts so I'm thinking first year would be better in halls. Does anyone know much about Chester House at the moment? Last thread is old so would love current view of it. Also are anyone's DC thinking of going to Chester House?
Thank you

Re: Urdang Accommodation - Chester House
My DD is in her first year at Urdang and lives at Chester House. We had the same considerations as first time living away and having visited Chester House beforehand we felt that it was ideal. There is an option of en-suite rooms or shared bathroom facilities, our DD has en-suite and although not huge, it’s ideal with modern shower room. There is a good selection of food at night with options and if running late home or late finish due to time table you can order on an app and it is dished out for when they are back and put aside. Cereal in the morning except weekends which are more leisurely and one of the days are cooked English breakfast. There are studios, a few TV lounges to use in their groups, laundry and small kitchen areas if they want to microwave something. Located in Muswell Hill has more pro’s than con’s, it is lovely and relaxed in the town and all our concerns evaporated once we had visited. Getting to Urdang each day was the only negative but proved to be better than expected. There is a bus stop right outside the house that goes direct and drops off 5-10 minute walk to Urdang. This takes about 45-50 minutes and about 50-60 minutes at the end of the day. The alternative is the tube which is a 20 minute walk away and on a direct line. You can combine the 2 and get the same bus to the tube station then the tube to cut the time down to about 30 minutes but in practice almost all that go to Chester House go on the bus unless running late. We felt that the extra hour each day on transport was balanced against not needing to food shop and cook every day. The Urdang day starts at 8:30am and can finish as late as 7pm depending on the individual’s timetable (or at least this year does) so it can mean you are leaving the room for 7am to get breakfast and on a bus around 7:15am. That said she has never regretted her choice on accommodation, or Urdang for that matter. Hope this helps.

Re: Urdang Accommodation - Chester House
Good morning , since Urdang will now be under the banner of City uni from next year , City have many halls only a 5/10 min walk from Finsbury . The website states that all 1st years will be guaranteed halls . Maybe worth considering and looking into .
