Level 3 extended diploma

Hi everyone :D

My dd after a lot of deliberation has decided she would like to pursue a career in dance/musical theatre. She is 15 and has only really started out along this pathway so auditioning for colleges such as Urdang, Bird, LSC etc is pretty much a no no for next year. We both feel studying for an additional 2 years at level 3 would be the better option but have no idea where to start! We live in central London and she is willing to travel up to an hour to find the right school, does anyone have any recommendations?

Many thanks.

Most 6th form colleges do a level 3,as do specific schools like Brit (probably missed the auditions for that) & Arts ed

Places like italia Conti in Guildford (I think) do a level 3 & The Centre, Stageworks, possibly Tiffany's

Umm I'm out atm but I'll have a look at the Move it Brochure (if I can find it when I get home)

Hi Noggin,

My daughter is starting the Level 3 extended Diploma in Musical Theatre in September, a lot of colleges do a BTEC but this one is quite specific and we didn't find that many places that did it - Italia Conte do it and there is a centre in Bedford and one in Hitchin too - good luck!

EDA Hitchin is amazing and they have their own studios/theatre in a converted building...
my DD used to go to the Sunday school there (she is now at Bodyworks Cambridge) .. well worth a look

Italia Conti Arts Centre in Guildford seems to offer much more than a regular sixth form college . But I think the final round of auditions for September is next week.

Yes that is the same course as Bedford and Hitchin - I know EDSA Hitchin add in 15 hours a week extra training - fab place

The University of the Arts Level three in performance and production is stripping students from BTEC, and in the papers last week it was saying that many BTEC courses are being cancelled this year for lack of numbers.

Have a look at somewhere like South Thames College http://south-thames.ac.uk/courses/music ... -arts.html

My DD is doing BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Musical Theatre at a local college. She was going to audition at 16 but, as she will not get funding because both my husband and I work, we decided this was the best option. She will then audition for a degree next, all being well.

They offer Dance and Drama BTECs as well at her college.

My DD did a level 3 Btec in Musical theatre at a local college and auditioned this year. She has 2 degree offers, one diploma offer, a reserve degree a foundation and a recall for another foundation. She has decided to take up the degree offer at LSC. Good luck to you DD noggin and I hope she gets what she wants. :D
