I need to talk about wigs for shows

DD has quite a lot of hair; OK an awful lot of hair
She has to wear a wig - we can't even get it on, never mind in the 2:18 minutes we have between acts
Any suggestions?

Hair net might do the trick and lots of clips.

How but a bucket load of serum and a swimming cap!

Hairnet I haven't tried
It's got to be 'out' both before & after the wig so serum is a non-starter

My DD had a similar problem when younger (think Helena Bonham Carter :-) ) . In the dress run she actually got it on despite the tight fit ( and the aforementioned clips and grips) only for it to "pop off " after few minutes where it lay accusingly on the floor like a guinea pig with highlights :-) :-) and the stifled giggles of performers and techies :-) . The director then had a re-think :-)

Rather than a hair net have you tried a wig cap.. They are much stronger than a hair net.. My daughter used one for a show once, it worked well as once on they really contain the hair so to speak,,
you can buy them through specialist shops or even E-bay

My hair rant!
Both of my dds are mixed race with big, bouncey, beautiful afros and I get fed up with having to force their hair into classical styles designed for European hair. I think stylists should work with the hair and not against it. No wonder so may olders girls straighten their hair and use weaves!

I agree Jeanie, DD has beautiful curly (in the extreme) hair & I 'understand' if she gets a role in a show she will get a wig made for her; but for the ballet school show we have to work with what she has
She is Cruella de Ville - so half black half white & in Cats so orange; I suggested clip on extensions but apparently she will stand out too much so she has to wear the wig

don't buy a wig cap cut the legs of a pair of tights and put twist in hair and then pull tights over couple of kirby grips to keep it in place then wig on and clip through wig into twistes hair with bun clips. My dusghters hair is near her bum it works for her.

An amazing hair lady just 'did' it; although she did say she had never done anything so difficult before
The show was absolutely amazing - beyond anything I could have imagined
