Help regarding schools permission for time off

My DD is in the process of auditions for a detective part in Emil and the Detectives at the National Theatre. I have asked the school for a letter confirming that they are ok with her having time of school if she gets chosen, they have refused permission which means she wont be able to get the licence. I am going to have a meeting with them to try and persuade them to change there minds and was wondering if anyone can think of anything that I can say in the meeting that will help in my arguement that this will be an amazing opportunity for her, they have already said that her attendance is good and i know she is not falling behind in any work and getting good grades, she will be going into year 8, any advice greatly received

You can appeal o the LEA who actually issue the licences.

Make sure they realise that time off for performances is not the same as the supposed 10 data and that legally they are only able to refuse if they can come up with a valid educational reason.

This is a useful leaflet Cheshire LEA issue to give to head teachers.
