Where to find a Long Black concert skirt?

Please can anyone tell me where to find a long black concert skirt for dd, for the National Youth Choir concert at the Albert Hall?

Have tried M&S and BHS. She is a woman's size 14 and 5ft 4ish I think - so needs a length about 40 inches. I don't want to spend more than £20-£23. Am watching something on ebay which is black velvet look and has a slit at the back and wondering if that is OK. It just says "black full length skirt" in the members handbook

Hi Hecouldshine, have you tried asking the admin at NYC? They are normally very approachable about things like that and must have heard it a lot! I don't have that problem as middle DS is in Boys/Cambiata choir, we will be at the Royal Albert Hall too! Good luck on finding the skirt. :D

Both my daughter and I got our long black skirts from ebay. "Goth" can be a good search term!  I think it can be hard to find them. Dance shops do them (though check the length - as what they refer to as long is sometimes calf length). It looks as though you can get one made to measure here but I'm not sure how long it would take: http://www.stardancewear.co.uk/stardanc ... tem_id=249

Alternatively they are relatively easy to make if you are willing to have a go. I made 35  full length skirts for a production a couple of years ago and became quite a dab hand! And I'm really not a seamstress. I could give you some tips for a thrown-together type skirt if you get desperate!

I bought about 5 from a dance school that had closed down to use as Victorian style costumes. I noticed they were originally from Primark.

New Look seem to have several long black skirts at reasonable prices

Oh thanks all. I'm going to check with NYC first to see if it can be velvet or "goth" look- from ebay thanks pg and Tess (must see if we can have a NAPM hello before the concert Tess :D ). THEN I will try New Look, thanks puck. No Primark near us sadly islandofsodor, THEN if all else fails I will try making one - thanks pg. I have a old fashioned Singer machine which is temperamental so that is my desperate measures option #-o

Thanks all :D :D :D Definately feeling less defeated now....

Thanks bruno. I've just won the velvet skirt on ebay - before I've checked that velvet is OK Fingers crossed that NYC don't tell me otherwise now

I'm pretty sure that NYC don't care as long as the skirt is black and full length. DD was a member with NYC but chose piano practice over the choir.

Thanks mrs.suniil :D I thought you'd posted on here about your dd's singing before :D

In fact I rang NYc today to check about black velvet, and they said OK as long as it isn't a really shiny velvet. Apparently LOADS of people have been contacting them about where to find skirts - they even sent an email out today about it
