Hi, I'm 17 and have an audition for a film, however it takes place in the "street side" of America and I have to do it with an American accent.
I need a monologue for the audition, hopefully something referring to the rough side of life, preferably from an American Play or Film so I could watch it and Learn it with the Accent.
The role is of a 17yr old boy who has done "bad things" to get by. At least 4 mins but can be any length of time.

What about taking a look at My Own Private Idaho ... it's a film about two teenage male hustlers in Portland starring Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix .... it's years since I watched it but I am sure you might find something gritty in that!

You could also try and get hold of a copy of Bang Bang You're Dead by William Mastrosimone. It's a one act play written in 1999 to raise awareness of school violence and its causes. The main character has some really good monologues (or sections of speech you could put together to form a monologues). I don't think it's in print but I think you used to be able to get it from the Author over the internet.

Good luck! Keep us posted about what you find and how you get on [-o<
