Hi, I know this may sound silly but is there a difference between a casting and an audition? :?

Not necessarily!

The terms are used interchangeably by some people in the profession.

NAPM differentiates between them here: http://www.notapushymum.com/gpage3.html

but in my experience someone might refer to the very same occasion as a casting and/or audition. My agent seems to refer to all of them as castings.

I tend to think of auditions for theatre and castings for commercials - in my mind, auditions last longer than castings, but that's possibly only in my head!

Hi

I agree, everyone seems to have a different understanding, our agent says that an audition is where you have to learn or practice something in advance (ie musical theatre) and a casting is where it is based more on your look and personality fitting the brief (commercials)
