DS was told he had to get his ensemble iece ready for his GCSE music ready for end of May and has found out today that he has to have it ready for the first Monday back after Easter. I entered a post on here ages a go asking for ideas and we are still struggling. Can anyone help. He needs a duet, preferably musical theatre although now so desperate will consider most things( but not opera) Should be nearly all harmony, male/female duet & incorporate large range & key changes. Tall order, I know, but help would be welcomed. PS ds a tenor.

All I ask of you, from Phantom of thr Opera is a nice musical theatre one I think and isn't ridiculously difficult.

I love "friendship" from Anything Goes - lots of harmony and perfectly age appropriate
There were 2 versions I found a couple of years ago - one had harmony all the way though (which was too complicated for my DD and her friend at the time) and another version where the verses were shared, but harmony came into the chorus.

That's really interesting Nicola as DS played the part of Moonface last month and sang that. The teacher felt that it was too repetitive & only harmony at the chorus so probably wouldn't get good marks. I loved it !!!

My dd loves to sing 'somewhere out there ' from An American tale, it is really a duet, it is very sweet for younger ones. As a solo it really shows your range and the ability to change down/up an octave from one line to the next.

Ahhh, Francesca's mum, I LOVE that song too - I have to stop myself from blubbing every time I hear it!
Oscar - your teacher will know much better than us heathens what an examiner likes - shame as it IS a good song - BUT I do have a version, as I say, that has harmony throughout the verse and chorus from a duet book, which I could scan if you were interested. That wouldn't stop it being "repetitive" though, I guess.

Flo has been given two lines from this to sing in the Birmingham Voice in a Million concert at the end of April, so we're learning to love it too. It makes a very good male-female duet.
Good luck to your DC (and singing partner) - don't forget to let us know what they choose.

Sorry, no - VIAM just supplies lyrics and backing tracks. You can download them from the Voice in a Million website I think.

Thank you for your help and suggestions. Nicola, the duet was fab but too repetitive. He is going to do Come What May from Moulin Rouge as that is the nearest thing we can find to tick those boxes. All he has to do now is find someone to do it with.
