Hi all - and another rejection here, for ds (just 10yrs, and pretty new to this)! Really horrid!! And can I ask advice? Do you always tell them when they've had a 'no' - especially when there's no real feedback to speak of? I suspect he may have already forgotten about it all, and is anyway busy with school stuff and his singing/drama etc...Is honesty always the best policy?

I only tell my dd if she aks, which to be honest isn't very often, (that's her asking not the frequency of no's). She enjoys the audition process so much, especially if it's a workshop type, that she is satisfied with that most of the time.

I agree with francescasmum - after a casting/recall I never say anything unless my dd's or ds ask - and the younger 2 often just forget My 8 year old still sometimes thinks he has done the job when it was just a casting

I never thought of not telling them. I just give them the news very matter-of-factly and say what great experience it has been. They've never been distressed by it, as they're both aware that it's a very competitive process and they can't always be chosen.

Hi and thanks so much for the advice. Different for each child I think, and I suppose its all about what the audition experience was like? If its a quick 'in and out' that's not quite the same as a 3 hour workshop - the 'no' was for the latter, so in some ways it was just a nice, fun morning. Anyway, he has a film casting tomorrow (for which he hasn't yet learned the script as he's at footie at the moment) so I think I'll not say anything anyway until after that. Has anyone had a film casting before (well, of course you have!!) and if so, any obvious tips??? I'll let you all know what it's like, and what they ask him to do...
