Hi all,
First off, I've contacted the administrator who said it was okay to post - I hope you don't mind me invading your mb.
I'm a freelance journalist (one day a week - the other four I work for Channel 4). I do a fair amount of stuff for The Guardian, in particiular for their Family section.
I'm looking into writing a piece about young people (ideally right down to babies) in acting - especially advertising, TV and film.
I have no intention of writing a lazy "Isn't it disgraceful, the mums are so pushy, these poor, exploited children" piece - because it's a cliche, and I don't think it's true. I want to write a genuine, intelligent piece looking at people's motivations, do they do it for the experience, the fun, a bit of extra money, how long do they want their kids to do it, and also at the practical side of it - how long are babies allowed on set, what are the rules, how do they get them comfortable etc.
I am looking for a mum or dad to interview who has a baby or young child who's been on film. Possibly even more than one such family. I am absolutely happy to show parents the piece before I submit it, and to give, in writing, assurance that if they don't like the way they're represented, they won't appear in the piece. (Also, feel free to google my work, you'll see I'm not a sleazy hack). In return, they can get some good exposure, and hopefully enjoy the experience of being in print.
