I'm back with another CV related question- which I would again appreciate any help with!

What's the general rule for putting accents on your CV? Do you need to have had actual training in them to put them down? Can you put an accent down if you've done it for a performance e.g. I've just done Grease which obviously requires an American accent so can I put that down? Or if you've been told that an accent you do sounds good can you get away with it?
What are you guys' thoughts? It's all a bit confusing to me at the mo!

Some people include a huge range of accents on their CVs and I'm often dubious about it to be honest!

On a Spotlight CV you can differentiate between those you can "do" and those that are "native".

If you have maintained an accent throughout performance you are likely to be pretty solid, so you can certainly put it on your CV. "American" could be thought of as a bit vague though as there are so many different American accents! You could try listening to some of the accents on http://web.ku.edu/~idea/ and see whether you can pin your accent down. Sometimes people put things like "General American" (or Standard American).

What it IS usual to see on a CV is your "native" accent. My natural accent is RP, but I am a native Brummie - so I tend to put them both on.

Whatever accents you put on your CV, you need to be able to turn them on at will in an audition situation. It's no good putting them on your CV and then telling your auditioner that you're a bit rusty and will perfect them in rehearsal - any actor should be able to do that!

Have gone for 'Standard American' so as to avoid wrongly assuming it's Californian or something like that :P and just put a few ones that I'm pretty confident down, I think that's the safest way to go.
