film casting- what to do about acne?!

Hi, this is my first post!
My DD has a film casting tomorrow for a cello- :D playing girl to appear in one scene of a major new film. Due to the fact that the prerequisite is a good ability on the cello, it seems that there are only a small number of girls being considered for it. The other requirement is that the girl should be pre-pubescent, which she is at the age of 10- or was, until very recently, when she has developed what seem to be acne spots on her forehead which are quite noticeable. Should I take her exactly as she is naturally, as if she got the part presumably a make-up artist would cover any blemishes, or should I use a little concealer for the casting? She is to be filmed and the tapes sent to the director to choose from; i.e the casting director himself will not be making the decision.
This is quite new to us as she has only been in one professional stage show before- but very keen to do more.
Any advice appreciated!

My suggestion would be not to use make-up unless it will give your DD reassurance/confidence she wouldn't otherwise have. Everyone gets spots sometimes (usually just when they don't want them!) and they could easily have cleared up by the time filming comes round, which a director would realise I should think. Equally, someone who doesn't have spots at the casting might have them by the time filming comes round! I am sure that spots won't be the make or break for this job , so I think it would be better to do without the concealer.

You may find others give you different advice!

Very best of luck to your DD.

I agree with pg. I know it is easier said than done but I wouldn't worry too much about spots. Waterloo Road was full of them last night! Good luck with the casting.

I really wouldn't worry - I don't think they will base it on her skin - and it could be it won't even be noticeable on the tapes. My dd did a shoot with a rash round her mouth but you couldn't see it at all on the finished product :) Lots of luck to her x

I agree with the other posters. Let it be. No need to do anything at all. Just enjoy the audition and good luck.

Same here. Make up can look a bit odd on a 10 year old, let her talent speak for itself. Best of luck.

if she is really worried, u could always try puting a small dab of toothpaste on them before she goes to bed and make sure she washes her face well in the moring.
sometimes, putting on makeup can acttually make them worse!
if they dont go, dont worry - its only a few spots! :)
Good luck! :D

If it makes your dd happier and more confident , I cant see the harm in a little concealer. Unfortunately these spots seem to appear around this age. If she has a fringe that seem to make spots worse around the forehead. What ever you decide to do I am sure it will be the right thing with or without the concealer I dont think it will matter to the Director, after all they must be used to this. Good luck

Thank you for all the good advice. She did her very best in the audition and her confidence wasn't affected by a few spots, so, as you all said, nothing to worry about. However, they seem to have cleared up much more since the day- typical!!!! :D
