Charlie and the Chocolate Factory stage musical
Plans are afoot for a new stage production of Roald Dahl's classic book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The book has already been made into a musical film twice, the last being Tim Burton's film in 2005 which starred British child actors Freddie Highmore and Julia Winter, who have had very contrasting careers since. The new musical production will be directed by Sam Mendes with an aim to premiere in London's West End in late 2011 before moving to Broadway. This stage version will incorporate new songs and an elaborate stage design for the Chocolate Factory.
