I think £500 deposit is far too much when they haven't finished their auditions. LSC also wanted a non refundable £500 for my dd's early offer even though I had heard in the past that they don't take them. Seems they've jumped on the bandwagon. When I called them about it they advised it was non refundable and if I didn't pay it then the early offer would lapse and my dd would have to go through the recall in April, so that's what we are doing.Barton285 wrote:Has anyone ever had their deposit back from a course which their youngster decided not to take up? DaDAs are means tested. If a student is awarded a DaDA then there is an element for the tuition fees for household income below £90,000 and an element for maintenance costs for household income below £30,000. The amount your dd would receive is based on your household income for the previous year. As for the monologue I think it depends on how old the character is. I can't imagine they would want to see a teenager play King Lear but Hamlet might be ok ??? If possible go for a character he can plausibly play.... But don't worry too much. Make sure he knows the duologue really well . Good luck.

I haven't heard of anyone getting a deposit back. My friend paid £200 to secure her dd's place at Urdang on the degree course and lost it when she accepted another place, but then she didn't ask about it. I don't think she thought they would agree. However it would be great if there was a chance of getting them back....and well done to your dc on the Urdang foundation. I heard their foundation end of year show was excellent xxx
Bodyworks is a wonderful place to study, very hard work and great results. Conti, Evolution and Bodyworks but still has Stella Mann (21st April) and CPA Studios (24th April) to audition at. Her favourite is Evolution but they want £500 deposit by April 28th and she is unlikely to have heard from her last two auditions by then. Compare this with Bodyworks who only want £75 registration fee and not until June 16th.
You are right I just had a look. It seems to have changed a lot. I'm sure Orsino will be fine. As long as he can justify his choice then don't worry. Rubbish isn't it! I understand that they need to take deposits to try to prevent those holding on to multiple offers, but I think they should wait until the auditions have finished so every one can make an informed decision. Bodyworks sound very reasonable, and Millennium were good too as they said we didn't have to pay the registration fee until my dd hears regarding the funding. Oh well, I think its very harsh to want such high deposits before the auditions have finished, but I don't think any things going to change. Well done to your DD on her offers so far, and good luck with her other auditions.
