I got the impression she was in Year 11 and going to be doing her GCSE Maths, English this academic year. I would speak to the school first and say that you're worried that your DD may not get a C grade and have to reatake - see if they can help her first. Schools want the children to gain Grade C and above. I had the same situation with my son in English - spoke to the school and his teacher met with him one day a week after school just for half an hour - he got a C on the Higher Paper.

Which ones are on your list? We have got a date back from Evolution and just sent one to Performers. Plan this week is to have a look at what Millenium need and then Urdang, possibly Bird a bit further along. It takes longer than I thought as they all ask for slightly different things!

DD has submitted applications so far for Laine and Arts Ed. Mountview, Central, GSA, Urdang and Bird are also on her list but like you say, it does take time. Three of these must be submitted through UCAS so they must be done at the same time, together with a personal statement. We're getting there, slowly but surely! What courses are you looking at? Bodyworks looks amazing but we are going for the London area purely because DD would be able to stay with relatives and commute. Shame we don't have family in Cambridge!!

DD will still be 17, so BA courses are out for us this time round. Ideally it would be the 3 year diploma in MT but we could do a foundation course at a stretch. That's why we included Evolution. They have a fantastic success rate at getting students from foundation to diploma standard. As we live in Spain at the moment we are really having to think about this logistically!! The idea is that DD could stay with relatives and commute!

Have you looked at The Institute of Arts in Barcelona? They do a foundation course. They look very good. I am sure somebody on here had a d who went there.

Yes, we have and it looks impressive. The thing is Barcelona is really far from us and it's cheaper to get flights to London than to there!

My dd was 17 and was offered 2 BA courses and one diploma so it is possible at 17! She didn't turn 18 until 1/2 way through her first year and was by far the youngest in her year....but she is mature and came across well at interviews...

Just throwing that into the mix...it is still worth applying to some places. There are a few that won't take an application for a 17 year old for the degree courses but there are definitely a few that will.

no.3 submitted today. Hopefully the dates will be confirmed fairly quickly. Managed to book rail tickets for one audition at a cost of £24 rtn fare pp from the north of England to London, which was a pretty good deal!

Two interesting developments at GSA. First is a fact. Michael Moore is no longer Head of MT - his Twitter profile now says "Former Head....". No reason that I can find in the public domain. Second is hearsay so may not be true. DD has been told that GSA have drastically cut the number of contact hours for MT compared to prior years. If true one might conclude that the two developments are related. Trouble in paradise?

Really!! Well, you live and learn, don't you? Everywhere I've looked for BA says min age 18, so we sort of ruled them out. Some further investigation is required!

We've had a confirmation today from Performers. I'd put a little note in asking for a certain date but they took no notice and gave us another!! Hopefully we can change it. I've sent an email.

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that both my DDs got into BA hons courses at respectively 17 & 16 having done their A'levels equivalents so it's not a criteria for some schools. They couldn't apply to some like Millenium for example as one has to be 18 to start but for other schools, having finished A'levels or A'levels equivalents is the criteria. You should try with those schools...
