Riverdancefan we've been struggling to find songs to suit ds new voice and he learnt No Matter What from Whistle Down the Wind in september for a local audition, singing it an octave lower than written. Now of course he CAN'T use it for the NYMT audition as it is sung by the children in the musical and he would be too old for those parts, so back to the drawing board

you get instructions and format emailed to you nearer the date, I remember it was workshop style as far as the dancing was concerned and you have to prepare a song with sheet music, NYMT send you a list of all those they can provide too, if you get stuck, a big long list to choose from.
you can perform songs from the shows they are presenting...
It shouldn't be long and you will get the info through, they are great workshops.
Thanks Riverdancefan, that's really helpful to know - it sounds like they make it fun and DD is looking forward to it.

NYMT have put this WSS poster on facebook with all the dates.
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid= ... t=1&ref=nf
Essentially it says rehearsals 1-7 April and 3-20 August (or does it say it 13-20 August? - can someone else say what they think

) and then performing 21-24 August.
I really don't think ds can commit to such a huge commitment even if they decided they would take some 15 year olds

- he would miss a family holiday in August for a start. Will wait and see what happens anyway

I think it's 3rd to 20th August. I've just had DS's confirmation for 10 Feb in London.

Agree, that facebook poster doesn't make it clear because it looks like 13th to me - the 1 is a little away from the 3!! DD is confirmed for the 10th in London too

I don't think it is a 1, I think it's meant to be just a line dividing the Easter dates from the summer dates. Oh well, as DS is a tiny 12-year-old, he won't be doing WSS. Anyone know the dates of the others?

Good Luck to all those auditioning in London today.
Ds seems to have enjoyed yesterday's audition in Newcastle. They worked on a dance routine for a scene in The Other School, on a drama scene from West Side Story, and on some "bits of songs", together with peforming their musical theatre song, in the singing section. They were told they would hear one way or the other about recalls this week.
Fingers crossed for everyone

We are on our way for the London round today, DS looking forward to meeting up with friends once again.
Discount WSS due to age leaving two potential shows this year so the odds of being cast have dropped considerably for the younger ones...still we are also going for YMT this year as some of their productions especially Great Expectations look really good!
The day is long but usually great fun for them
Fingers crossed for your DS HCS, Manchester would be great for you ? Not so far to travel?
Plus I think WSS is going to be absolutely amazing and we will definately travel to see it

I hope he's having a fun day with his friends riverdancefan
Ds was in the same group as another year 10 boy he'd done English Youth Ballet with 2 years running and I had a good catch-up with his Mum. They were in a group that was ages 11-15 ds thought, so I can't really see that they could have been considering them for WSS. Ds would have to miss a week of a family holiday for WSS performances so not sure he is so keen on it now. Also I think a 15 year old might feel a bit isolated with a company that is mostly 16-23 years

Odds for the younger ages very unfavourable as you say, but here's hoping for a recall for our dses anyway

Hi, my daughter auditioned today in London. First time for us so any info on the whole process much appreciated. I was surprised to read above that they would hear about recalls so quickly. Would they not wait until they had done all the first rounds before contacting people about reacalls? We assumed we would not hear for some time but no info given today on this. My daughter did say that they are auditioning 1000 young people for 100 places so as your say odds stacked against.
