Hi,
My dd's recall went well at GSA Thankyou. Unfortunately she didn't get to the interview stage but she had an absolutely jam packed day of auditioning. Plenty of opportunities to show your talent. Definitely the best audition so far. Over 2000 applied and 250 recalled so very proud of her. I loved Guildford and would love my dd to apply there again but she's more determined than ever that she wants to be in Central London. If anyone wants info on the recall I would be happy to help x

Thanks Nickyh, glad to hear it was a good day. That's all you can ask really, that they enjoy the day and get to show what they can do. DD has hers on Saturday. She knows a couple of people going so that will be nice for her to meet up with them. I am not too hopeful but I think it is a good experience anyway. DD knows someone with an offer and it was a third try (they have been at a different uni meanwhile and will start again now to go there). I agree they did well to get a recall anyway.

Re: Just had an offer from Hammond for their BA course

Post by Mummyofthree »

Hi there my daughter was at the Hammond on the 7 March and also got an offer for the BA course I'm pleased to say! Such a relief she was offered SLP but the dada is unlikely to cover living costs.
She's also got offers from Edgehill and Cumbria but she doesn't want to go now she has the Hammond offer. She also got into alra drama school for the BA acting course and at the moment is a little undecided about which one to take Acting or musical theatre. Well done to your daughter and they may even meet each other there X she also auditioned for GSA and Mountview but got a no.

Anyone heard from Trinity Laban for the BA MT course yet? DD had her audition nearly three weeks ago and hasn't heard yet- they said it would be 2 weeks.

My DD is waiting too. When I spoke to them they said 2 weeks after their last audition so believe the two weeks are up today. So fingers crossed. Good luck to your DD

Does anyone have any information about Mountview BA acting. I know their BA MT course is incredibly successful but is it the same for their acting degree? Thankyou x

Hi everyone. My DS has just found out he's got a recall for GSA. But he doesn't meet the grades. Does anyone know of anyone who got in without having the grades at all? He's definately going to try anyway because you never know.. Chichester and LCM have offered him a place and lowered the entry grades on his conditional offer to make it possible for him to obtain them but obviously GSA is so popular I'm thinking that's it's very unlikely that they'd do that.

Just to explain he has mild learning difficulties. It doesn't effect his performing at all and you'd never know on meeting him but the written theory side of work is a struggle for him.

I'd be really interested to know if anyone knows anyone who got a place without the grades. Just wondering if there is any hope. Haha ;)

Hi bop2thetop,

Several comments, some helpful some not. There are posts on here somewhere about how GSA are ruthless when it comes to grades. That said when we went to an open day there during last year's interview round we were told by more than one member of staff that they are allowed to take up to 20% or 30% (can't recall which) of the intake with grades below the very high requirement. Not sure if that's still the case. I can't recall whether or not they ask for predicted grades with the application. My guess is that they do get them as it's via UCAS so the school/college will have had to add his tutor's reference and predicted grades so GSA should know. You may want to consider contacting GSA to put them clearly in the picture and see what they say. If they say that there will be no compromise then he has to decide if he wants to go for the experience. They may say that there is room for compromise but will not commit unti they have made a decision on whether to offer him a place or not. Hope that helps.

Firstly, congratulations on the recall. I would say go to that anyway as you might as well get your money's worth for your audition fee (unless it means incurring a lot of expense in getting there of course). It's a good experience that might help with other auditions if he has any left. Most people who got offers today at GSA recall had just done a foundation. DD enjoyed it, thought it went well but got a no. About the grades, I think they are strict but if you get an offer there may be a way as bop said? Maybe see how recall goes then tackle it. Would resits or a level 3 btec be an option?

Hi

My dd recently had a GSA recall and she is currently only studying 2 A levels and 1 As so would not meet the requirements of 3 A levels. When she was at the recall they constantly mentioned that they would absolutely not compromise on their grades. This was said many times throughout the day so even though she didn't get to the interview stage and was a little disappointed it was also a bit of a relief too. However, she had a fantastic day and we are so glad she went. It was a great day and she learnt a lot x

Just reading the recent posts about GSA and in particular the preceding one. It occurs to me that a lot of people are wasting a lot of money and filling GSA's coffers. They are now charging £55 a pop and my understanding is that they get 1,500+ applications. So if they are being so categorical about the grades are there 1,500 (or however many it is) applicants who meet the minimum requirements? I doubt it very much. Can anyone make sense of this? Does everyone who auditions know that they need AAB (or whatever the minimum is)? Or are they spending £55 + travel and accommodation just for the experience?
