Really sorry to hear that katkit, it must be worse than the rejection of not getting a recall when you already have a place but not able to get funding, I do feel for you and your daughter.

I bet Footloose was fantastic dorothy and well done to your dd. Ds seems to have got over the disappointments of the last few months and had some good news on Thursday that he's got the part of "Doody" in a youth production of Grease at a local theatre this Summer and he has a showcase with his drama workshop in a couple of weeks. Yes, dreading him going to Kavos, he's going with a good group of mates, so hopefully they will look out for each other [-o<

Thanks I am dreading it too but dd has a nice group of friends so hopefully all will be well. She doesnt drink much so i guess thats my worry having seen some of the programmes on TV and the booze cruises yikes 8-[ Congratulations on your ds's part as Doody in Grease. A very good part. Its funny but my dd was going to do Grease in the summer at her local theatre as well and she had a recall for tomorrow(she was hoping for one of the pink ladies part ) but it clashes with the YMT revival of the show that she did last year and as its in London at Riverside Studios and a chance to meet up with friends she hasnt seen for a while (and look good on her CV) she is doing that instead. Its such a shame they clash because she wanted to do both. I think she is going to still go in and help out on the first week of rehearsals for Grease with the younger ones as that doesnt clash.

Anyway hope your ds (and you and your family) enjoy the summer.A chance to refresh the batteries and start again!!!

I'm really pleased to hear your fantastic news!! My DD auditioned there too this year, but only offered foundation. I'm sure you have told others, but I'd be interested in what your DD has gone through to get there, i.e. you say this is her second year, and did she do a foundation? Brilliant news, I can only imagine how you are feeling but you must be on top of the world!! :) x

She got a place there last year too, also Millennium, Stella Mann, Performers. No funding. She was offered 50% last year at MADD in Nottingham but didnt like the feel of it there so turned it down. She was offered foundation at Urdang and Bird.
She took the Urdang foundation and well they have been amazing.

So round two this year, auditon at Conti, Laine, Bird, Urdang and Bodyworks
Bodyworks DaDA
Urdang place unfunded
Laine and Conti still waiting to hear

And mysteriously Bird offered her foundation again, I really didnt get this one!!!

Hi Guys,

Great news that Dd has just been offered a full dada at italia but she also has an offer from Mountview but we are still awaiting news of funding from them. Is it possible to accept the conti dada and if mountview offer one to subsequently accept that one and reject the conti offer. The whole system of offers/acceptances/funding is so frustrating when you need to make a decision but not have all the information in order to make them ](*,)

Hi everyone. Has anyone heard anything about SLP College in Leeds? I've never heard of it before but would really appreciate if anyone who has had experience of auditioning there, or even know someone who goes there?

Another question, I know of the colleges out there and have researched them (most) but wonder if anyone with experience could make some suggestions on college choice to audition next year please? My daughter, 18, is very determined (and pationate) about her choice of training for musical theatre, has been offered a place at Urdang but will turn it down due to funding. Another offer of 'foundation' at Cambridge, will turn it down as I can't fund it. Only other place she auditioned was GSA, and didn't go through to afternoon rounds, was gutted as she thought she did good and the dance teacher was really praising her during the audition. She is at least being noticed, which is really encouraging (for us both, it is such a huge committment and sacrafice and cost). She has an audition at Performers in May, but it won't be for a funded place as we missed the deadline for submitting an application, so she will go just for experience, but couldn't afford to go if she was offered anything :(

Next year she'll apply for more places and my question is this. Her main strength is singing (she is about to do grade 8 Lamda, she started ballet three years ago, is grade 5 but hasn't been doing grades for almost two years, she loves the evening ballet classes she now goes to. Last year she tried at 5 colleges, Urdange (got offer), Performers (offered foundation), GSA, Mountview, & Arts Ed. She said they all really seemed dance based, and also I think in hindsite she wasn't ready, mentally or dance ability wise. I don't know anyone else and have read all 28 pages of this thread, hungry for guidance and information - thank you to everyone who have given your experience and advise so freely!

This year she took a gap year to work full time and then take as many dance classes as she could do, which worked for 4 months. This didn't go to plan as her employers were not flexible in giving her more daytime work hours, so she couldn't get to dance classes. She's has moved jobs due to this, and will now be able to do as many evening dance classes as she can fit it, and fund them too, which will help me save for whatever comes next year. Hurrah. It seems that (in her experience last year) that the girls she spoked do at auditions and open days had their main focus in dance, will this lessen her chances of success? In fact at Cambridge this year, I got that clear impression, when the principle said the students often find their voices in their second and third years. I'm wondering if the same is true for dance, if she isn't as strong as some of the others?

And finally, how much attitional theatre experience should she be getting 'outside' of work and dance, singing classes, i.e. taking part in shows, amateur theatre, etc, as there isn't alot of time left over for her. Does this increase their chances of being offered places? (her experience isn't as vast as most, i would guess)

We are going to try and see more west-end shows and local ones too. I believe in her, I think she has what it takes, but it is such a worry, MT is something that is so competitive (and expensive). But, I'll do whatever I can to help her achieve this-I believe she can and am so thrilled for all of you who have been posting of your DaDa successes. Well done to you and your children!! :)

Sorry for a long post, so many questions, so many fears xx Any suggestions would be appreciated.
