So if she does get offered another one we can just pull out of the current one? She really wants to go to Performers but the travel will cripple us and can’t afford accommodation- Bird is only 5 mins down the road x

As your dd is on the foundation at Bird, couldn’t you (or your dd) ring/email them and explain the situation? My dd did pre-voc at Performers and they were all told where they were in the reserve list and the chances of being offered a place. Worth a try? Also, I presume your dd can’t drive? On my daughter’s course was a friend who lived near Bird and she ended up travelling every day but she had her own car, took her around 40mins x

Has anyone received an update from Arts Ed? My dd did a video audition 4 weeks ago and didn’t receive a reply . We’re assuming it’s a no as she hasn’t been asked to do a Skype interview

We still haven’t heard? We sent video audition in at end of April. I assumed we would be told either way. I didn’t think we just wouldn’t hear from them. Surely there would be some sort of acknowledgement? Even if it’s just a no?

We are still waiting to hear from ArtsEd also - from end of April. I know someone who had a no a week ago. Last time my DC checked her video had not been watched yet either. Also waiting for Urdang and Trinity Laban

My goodness, they are dragging their heels. As I said on an earlier post, it took exactly 4 weeks for my DS to hear back. This is all leading to far too many sleepless nights for me at the moment. Drama school funding and accommodation seem to be the constant topic of conversation between me and my husband. That along with trying to think of creative ideas for raising extra funds, which under the current economic climate and lockdown are nearon impossible! Kinda feeling the pressure now, as our DS has done so well, particuarly getting into ArtsEd as well, but until we know how we are going to fund the complete amount - not so much fun!

Yes the waiting is very stressful . My dd has had more offers then we expected and all along had her heart set on Arts Ed for some reason . Shes declined Bird and two other colleges .
She’s in a group chat for her second choice that she’s been accepted to and all the students are stressing about accommodation. One girl in the group wanted them to sign up for an 8 bed student apartment that’s “only” £350 per week each . Her words not my dd’s

LOL! That sounds very familiar. The topic of convo with my DS at the moment is, "so why can't we pay extra for an ensuite bathroom?!" I was amazed at how expensive some of the student accommodation is and often the figure given excludes utility bills. Trying to convince him that there are some nice properties on the outskirts of London - that fell on deaf ears!!

Woh, I presume that’s central London? Can just imagine your response! Dd paid £420 pm with bills at Performers, moving to Wilkes in Sept and that seems a similar cost so I think I’d have died at £350 per week! Good luck with your search xx

£350 a week each for 8 people? Surely not. What college is that near? My son has a 3 bedroom rental property in zone 1 Which works out as £850 each a month. What am I missing? Who the hell can pay that? Or would pay that even if they could afford it, seems way above market prices.

It’s in purpose build student accommodation . Prices start at £170 pw and £350 is for the more luxurious apartments . I was shocked to be honest

I bet there’ll be some parents who can afford it! Oh that would be the life wouldn’t it? They’d have better accommodation than me!

We can’t afford the £350/£400 to live at college so will be spending £180 on a two hour journey instead! Wish we could

Do Performers offer any bursaries on top of the dada for accommodation? Good luck with the Bird offer - sounds much more convenient!
