Re: Mt sixth forms
Read College in Reading they have an access to the arts fund to help with the fees.
DD is now in the first year at Conti and says she is appreciating just how good the Read training was.

Re: Mt sixth forms
My DD has just started at Kingsclere College 6th form on the musical theatre course and is loving it. I feel like she's getting good training in all three areas of dance, singing and acting and past students have gone on to good drama/dance colleges. We also looked at Arts1.
Re: Mt sixth forms
I would check with your daughter what’s happening in her singing lessons and those of everyone else. I was told a very concerning story from an unassociated MT professional. They were checking in with me what my own DD had experienced for comparison. I would be extremely unhappy if she had experienced what has been described.Hilltop wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 12:52 pm My DD has just started at Kingsclere College 6th form on the musical theatre course and is loving it. Re: Mt sixth forms
But you just wrote two negative comments for Read

I don’t know this college personally but it is always sad to hear of a training college in financial trouble - the industry has lost a few in the last year or so and I’m sure this won’t be the last. I feel so sorry for the students. I hope the link works - READ college

Very sad to hear about this. My daughter had an excellent year at Read College.
You are right @Harry2003 .This will not be the last college to flounder ( very much hoping that they might be thrown a lifeline!).
Funding is being cut left, right and centre or access restricted. There will be pressure on the degree courses too and soon, there will only be handful of elite institutions operating. It's such a mess.
If you want an interesting read about the state of Drama/ MT training, https://theaccidentaldisruptor.com/how- ... -too-many/

Re: Mt sixth forms
I apologise I did not realise there was a DM facility till you raised it. I have tried to send you a DM though I don’t think it has been successful.Hilltop wrote: ↑Sun Nov 27, 2022 8:45 pm My DD and the other students are very happy with their singing lessons at Kingsclere, the teacher is very knowledgeable and my DD has improved her singing ability already. I think with any school you will have negatives somewhere. In my DD’s year there is a girl that has just transferred over to Kingsclere from Read College because Kingsclere was a better fit for her, for various reasons that I won’t go in to here, and I know of another girl who was bullied at Read College a couple of years ago and has subsequently left MT training because of the effect it had on her.
I think we should be careful what we write on such a public forum because one comment like yours can really affect a college’s reputation. I was under the impression that we don’t write negative comments in posts but rather DM?
Re: Mt sixth forms
My dd has just completed two years at LIPA on the MT course.
By all means DM me if more appropriate.
