That’s brilliant Moonfaery! My Dd joined the group chat the other day! Where else has/ is she auditioning?
Thanks dillydaffy!
She’s got Urdang on Sunday and has an offer from Wilkes. She was also due to do Performers and LIPA but will cancel as Bird or Urdang are her top choices.
Good news for your dd too then! How do they get on the group chat?
Sorry for delayed reply, my Dd has joined ‘Bird registry’ on facebook. I think a few of them have swapped insta details etc ( or whatever it is they do!!🤣)

Totally jumping on this thread as I’m just new lol. Daughter is 17 and does look on the younger size and quite small lol. She started her audition journey in November with an audition for urdang(unsuccessful) and 8th January London studio centre(unsuccessful). She accidentally opened the LSC email whilst at her Wilkes audition 🤦🏻‍♀️ But she came out of the Wilkes audition and was as high as a kite!! She absolutely loved it and got such great comments in the interview(hope that’s a good sign). She has auditions left at performers, addict and trinity Laban.

Hello

I was wondering if anyone could advise. I can’t find any league type tables for the dance colleges offering Trinity Diplomas, I briefly know of some colleges reputations but DDs teacher doesn’t have enough experience to be able to advise and has kept out of the process as never had a student go on to dance college before.

DD has applied for a variety of colleges offering the level 6 Trinity Diploma and I wondered if anyone could advise the standard, even if just putting them into 3 groups, top middle bottom etc to give an indication of where to send DD should she be lucky enough to be accepted.

I appreciate this could come across as controversial and that is not my intention I am just genuinely quite oblivious and want to be able to guide DD.

Many thanks a bewildered Father.

Hi, this is probably completely unrelated. My DS started at Bird this year and from my experiences I just wanted to make you aware (nothing to do with Bird whatsoever) that there are some unscrupulous landlords around. Watch out for joint tenancies that you're not expecting. If you become a guarantor for a joint tenancy then you are actually guaranteeing the whole year's rent for the property. So, for example, 4 tenants paying £500 a month each in a joint tenancy - you'd be legally guaranteeing £24000 if the other tenants dropped out and could not be traced. Please please Google anything that looks slightly dodgy. Also be aware of the Tenants Fees Act 2019. Highlights - they can't charge you more than 5 weeks rent as a deposit, and they can't keep your deposit for anything other than repairs etc. Plus they can't charge you surcharges other than late payments over 14 days late and at 3% plus base rate only. They are legally prohibited from making a profit from deposits or surcharges.

Best of luck to all your DCs

Hmm - this is highly subjective and there are so many variables - ballet, musical theatre, general dance, contemporary, larger weighting towards dance/drama/singing. I will list a few (this is no way an exhaustive list and no doubt I’ll look back and realise I’ve missed some fabulous schools!) of the ones I personally think are top tier and in no particular order and some are more specialist in a particular field:

Urdang - MT and dance
Bird - MT and dance
Laines - MT and dance
Tring - dance
Arts Ed - MT
Elmhurst - ballet
Royal - ballet
Mountview - MT
Guildford school of acting - MT (only degree)

Other very good schools

Wilkes
Italia conti
Performers
Northern ballet school
The Hammond

I hope this is a jumping off point for more input for you.

This is a very oversimplified answer but a possible first step would be to see if they offer dada funding. If they do it’s is a good sign that they are considered to be a reputable course. If the answer is no then it might be worth considering why not. I’m not saying it’s necessarily a bad thing but worth looking into further.

Have a look at
https://www.balletcoforum.com/ if inclining towards more dance/ MT and also CDMT website which has up to date non biased information - everyone will have their own opinion!
Asking for a list isn't enough to make a decision - there are lots of changes now, Urdang isn't doing a diploma, Performers has just started offering one.
Research who offers DADAs Tring I believe has got their's back after 3 years of not being able to offer them.
Also, all places now need to offer equal training as they need their students to be as skilled as possible to get work ,we were told this at CDMT conference at Mountview 2/3 years ago.
Mine is at GSA (degree) and it's a big myth that they do less dance.

I too believe Urdang isn’t doing the diploma this year, however, there’s an ad that keeps popping up on Facebook offering an audition day for Urdang in Dubai, that lists the diploma course along with degree & foundation……🤷🏼‍♀️

My DD has auditioned at Bird and Stella Mann so far, she has NBS and The Hammond to go.

Thank you all for your advice and good luck to your
DCs with their auditions.

Has anyone else got a more actor singer applying?
She got rejected from Urdang (not sad just not there to make up the numbers), rejected from Mountview (unsurprising she looks very young despite being 18 she still meets casting criteria for school of rock). She has a callback at Conti at the end of the week, waiting to hear from Royal Welsh.
Final has Royal Scottish and Central uploads to go and PPA is attending her college in early Fen for an audition day.

My DD was in a similar position last year. She applied as a strong singer and could act and dance a bit. In the end she got offered a foundation year at Conti (her only recall) but decided to take a gap year and develop more as a rounded performer before heading off to drama school.

She signed up with a fabulous local performing arts school and her dance and acting have developed considerably, and she is so much more optimistic for this round of offers. She's had her first audition with a recall, so things are looking better already. She's also got a part time job, so developing in that way too.

She was devastated last year, but looking back it really was the best thing for her.
