16+ confused!!!

Post by honey »

Hi
I have started to look at schools for My dd for 16+.
I am so confused and don't know which schools would suit her best!
She has been at a full time performing arts school from year 7.She loves all 3 disciples equally and also can't seem to make her mind up where to audition for.
Most courses seem to be dance, musical Theatre or drama courses. She is worried that on a musical Theatre course the dancing won't be strong enough, and on a dance course there won't be enough singing or acting, and for acting there won't be any dance or singing!
She is a strong dancer and singer but wants to work on acting without compensating the dancing and singing.
Does anybody have any info about which schools are strong on all three?
Thank you x

Sounds to me like Emil Dale Academy is the place for her!

My daughter has been at Hammond since year 7. Although she's been on the dance course MT has always been her thing & she is hoping to be able to stay on (awaiting audition results)

For her she felt that Hammond is most likely to give her a strong dance standard but with singing & acting being important too. singing is currently her strongest of the three disciplines & acting the weakest. Like your Dd she worries that the dance standard isn't strong enough on lots of MT courses but at Hammond it's a common first year so MT students do the same dance classes (streamed) as the Dance students. When they specialise from Year 2 onwards they do a bit less dance but still very high standard.

A lot of her friends are auditioning for places like urdang, laine & bird but she wants a smaller college where everyone gets a decent crack in the agent showcase.

I'd recommend Bodens College of Performing Arts.
www.performingartscollege.co.uk

They offer free full time training - there are no fees to pay at all and they are there all day every day! They provide outstanding training in all three disciplines, provide an enormous amount of performance opportunities and offer one, two or three year options, all fully accredited so that students graduate with recognised qualifications.

Happy to answer any questions, my DD is there and loves it!

I cant recommend Bodyworks Cambridge enough..small, friendly, very hard work but a great place.
DD was also a full timer at SY from yr 6 and has recently graduated from Bodyworks in July.
So far she has not stopped working professionally...

You will know which place is for you as soon as you step through the doors....
Good luck.. :D :D
