Gap Year?

Post by JayLou62 »

DD1 is 20 (although very young looking -at auditions 17 year olds thought she was their age).
She has been unsuccessful in auditions so far but she now knows which places she likes and she feels would suit her.
When is the best time to try again (auditions)?
She already has nannying jobs lined up plus attending (hopefully) a local youth theatre company (for ages 18-25) plus taking singing and dance classes. The youth company learn improvisation, acting techniques, devising, physical performance, voice, character work, visual theatre, and script training. They are taught by the professional directors, actors and theatre makers and there is always the chance to perform on the professional stage in an exciting show created through collaboration with the theatre school (BOV), plus NYT etc so hoping this is a good option for a gap year?
Is there anything else to consider?

Hi, My DD is only 13, but because the world of performing arts is quite alien to us, and DD has her heart set on going into this field, I've spent a lot of time 'digging around'. This forum has been full of information. Something I saw recently was on the LIPA website about what they are looking for in prospective students which may be of help.
