Urdang pre-audition course

Post by dancingmoll »

Hello all, my dd has just booked her place at the Urdang pre audition course for October. We were wondering if anyone else had done the course and if so what were your thoughts, what should we expect? and do you have any tips!? Thanks in advance !

DS did it in July and had such a good time. He said it was tiring and he learnt more in a week in ballet than he has done in four years at Sylvia's. They pushed them quite hard but he loved it. Very useful as they get feedback afterwards and some tips for the actual auditions.

Oh wow Dogcop! That does sound promising then, dd is looking to get pushed hard so that sounds great! is the feedback that they get afterwards very detailed and does it have different notes for dance/singing/acting etc ?

Yes different notes for each discipline. Really helpful, they don't give any praise but it's more tips on how to improve for the audition.

DD did it a while before auditioning; the feedback was good

She was used to demonstrate what a 'good applicant' should look like (clothes/presentation/attitude) - but she got rejected at both auditions she had there

DD did it and it was worth every penny.
It was very intense as mentioned before - we had to get a taxi home one night as she was too exhausted to catch the tube !
The final day they do as a practice audition day which they were all SO nervous for but that alone was worth the fee.
Excellent experience, great feedback but more importantly she met people throughout the audition process that had done the week with her which instantly lessened the nerves at each college.
DD is 16 and was offered the foundation course which was a fabulous surprise.
She is on her way to start at Cambridge but has a huge soft spot for Urdang and it's faculty.

Hope this helps ?
