Suzie Lowe Child Agency Books Open

Post by Theatrefun »

suzieloweagency.co.uk
The independent Theatre School I run in Essex recently formed a partnership with a new agency, Suzie Lowe Agency.
Having been a parent of a busy child actor myself (who is now 21!) i can say with confidence that Suzie Lowe is offering a very special service, Suzie worked professionally
as a child herself and is very sensitive to each child's hopes and dreams. She is careful about she she offers representation to
(out of my 200 students, many of whom are very talented, Suzie took just 20!) Suzie specialises in Musical Theatre work and over the next few weeks, is looking to take on more children aged 7 - 14 and under 5ft, who can sing and dance and live either in London, Essex or Kent. There are no up front agency fees, but clients will need to pay for their own spotlight entry and spotlight headshots. If you are interested it would be well worth emailing the agency and if Suzie is interested she will arrange to see your child. I understand she is particularly keen on hearing from boys and from confident younger girls around 4ft. Good luck to anyone who applies!

You don't need an agent to audition for most of the children's roles in MT in London as they are open, anyone who knows how to use a search engine can find our casting directors details and submit their DC so why would you need an agent who specialises in this field (and would take about 20% of any earnings)?

Quite right francescasmum - most of the kids I know who have been in the west end were cast before they had an agent - def a good idea to do some googling :)

DS had two years in the West End before we looked for an agent. We researched on here and elsewhere to make sure we approached ones whose clients got work in TV/film as that's what he's hoping for now.

Hi all - great to get a discussion going! I preferred to go through an agent for everything when my child was working, as a lone parent juggling a full time & a part time job I didn't have the head space or time to do the necessary amount of work googling and sending CV's etc. I was happy to pay the agent's commission & have them deal with all the paperwork! They were great sorting out chaperones, especially when my daughter was working abroad as unfortunately I couldn't usually take time off work to be with her. I have total respect & admiration for all parents who are able to do all the work themselves and I do also believe there is a place for agents. Our agent was fabulous at negotiating contracts, getting the best pay deal and they also did things like re-negotiate filming and performing days when filming days for a TV series DD was in clashed with a MT job (which happened two years running!) I guess the biggest advantage of having an agent is being able to be in Spotlight, which is definitely worthwhile!

I apologize if iby saying that Suzie specialized in MT it gave the impression that MT jobs were all she focused on as I know this is not the case ( In the past week 1 of my students who is with Suzie has just got her first TV advert and 1 has got a radio job ) I was just trying to be as helpful as possible as I know Suzie wants clients who can be sent for all sorts of jobs rather than having some kids who just do modelling or acting but can't dance or sing etc.
It would be very hard for a children' agency to survive as a business on MT jobs alone as they don't pay well compared to more commercial work. There's so many talented children out there and lots of hard working parents and having an agent for your child is one way of helping them get work. As I say, even though I work in the industry, there is no way my DD could have taken on the work she did without an agent as I just couldn't have found the time to manage everything!

It's no problem theatrefun, I think the confusion may have been it sounded like they specialised in theatre work :) We have an excellent agent and for film and TV work we would never be without - could not sort all that ourselves at all! I think those of us who commented were talking purely about west end roles.

I think because she has put a height restriction (5ft upto age 14!!!) it indicates that its MT kids she is looking for
