Post by fizzycandy123 »

Hi everyone, I wondered if anyone has a good headshot photographer they'd recommend. My last photographer Photoshoped my headshots so they looked too fake,so Id really like some natural ones,I live in Essex so London based would be good.Thanks.xx

We were very happy with DS's pictures from http://www.brandonbishopphotography.com/ He's in Dalston. Very experienced, and he was lovely to work with, but not cheap.

My DD used Brandon Bishop as well. Very good headshots, took a lot if time, very proffessional

There's a site called Headshot Hunter http://www.headshothunter.co.uk/
might be useful if you are making comparisons.

You will notice advice about headshots having to look like the actor which i always thought was weird until a recent trip to see a play with 3 male actors. All different ages, build and hair colour, acting in a studio theatre just a few metres from me. I spent the whole of the interval trying to match the photos to the actor. A significant haircut or beard, trying to look rugged and chisel jawed when you are a Bantam, trying to look good looking when you're a bit geeky...well i see why CDs would get irritated.

We had that problem when we went to see Wicked last year, Garlinda had dark hair in the programme and Elphaba had blonde!

I second what Missymoo says - Ben O'Hanley in Leigh on Sea is outstanding and very natural shots. My DD has been to Lisa Visser who is great but I wouldn't say completely natural shots. We did a test shoot with Ben and as part of the shoot he also did a video which is a mix of live and stills - on my DD's profile and some of Ben's pics.

He has just started out down this road having previously working at BBC and is so lovely. We will definitely be going back to him for updates.

Spooky, my daughter had her headshots taken by Mark from MAD Photography on Saturday. He's done them for about the last 5 years, lovely photographs and such a nice guy.
