Holiday schools; Easter & May half-term

Re: Holiday schools; Easter & May half-term
Please don't take this the wrong way but have you thought your DD might need to rest in half terms? I know there are loads of great workshops and holiday courses but rest is also very important for young people especially when they have busy schedules during term time and when school work starts to get harder. I would happily book a day at half term maybe but otherwise it is rest time. I would be happy for DD to do a week at Easter and she does 2 weeks dance summer school but I am careful that half terms are for rest and recovery..they do need some down time. Again I am not criticising, just that it is easy to get caught up in organising our DCs lives. DD was in panto for 2 months at xmas so half term is an important pit stop for her. We have seen a show and she has done half a day with her dance company but that is it and I would not book anything for May half term.

It's tricky isn't it
If she doesn't do a dance course she will have to do a combination of staying at home, going to friends houses - but she has to do the entire day where ever she is as I work full time & can't run her round. & it's only in the last year or so that she hasn't had to go to a holiday club as I run a nursery from home & it's not very easy for her to be at home in the holidays.
She prefers holiday clubs to being at home as she can only really hang out in her room (rather than the lounge or the garden) which combined with the short time she has to decide what college she wants to audition for that decided me to look for courses at the short of colleges she wants to go to; so she an experience the teaching (even if it isn't the 'same' as term-time) before she decides.
It's sad when my work affects her home life; but during school time it's great for us - it's only the holidays that are a bit difficult

Katymac I can see that your circumstances might make a course right for your DD. You must need her to board if you can't take her every day then which might not be as easy to find. I spent 2 weeks running DD to her summer school last year every day and it was an hour each way so that sort of thing would not be much good for you. It was pretty tiring I must say and we did end up booking a camp site for a few days as a break from the driving.
They run an Easter MT course at Bird college and I think there might be families or some such boarding arrangement. They do some dance courses too in the holidays. My dancing DD is 14 and I know she would probably not want to board with a host family but she is more of a home body and doesn't want to train vocationally til she is 18.

I'll know by the end of next week if she can cope with being away
I had a look at Bird but it was the first weekof Easter
We have lots of family around London so we should be able to find someone to stay with (fingers crossed)
