Can anyone advise - do all agents make you pay the fee for listing on spotlight?

I should imagine so, it is quite a hefty sum. As there is no guarantee you will get a job, they probably won't offer to take it out of your first wage.

Yes, I agree, I can't imagine any agent being willing to pay this for a client. It's just one of those sums you have to budget for.

In my opinion you shouldn't have to pay your agent anything (other than commission on work you do) but you will normally be expected to cover all your own expenses (Spotlight, photographs, travel to auditions etc).
