2 possibly bogus castings on Starnow

Post by missmoneypenny »

I have listed 2 casting calls below that I think are a bit suspect. I applied for the 2nd one for my dd and got a reply very quickly, with a list of names of the people involved, and a scene to put onto video as an audition piece. However, I then saw the first casting call which seemed very similar - so a few alarm bells rang - I have googled the names I was given and it came up with a newspaper article about a group of very young children - a couple of whom had the names I was given - quite unusual names too!! So I suspect that these are just a coupe of kids messing about. Just don't want anyone to waste time and energy when it looks like a bit of a prank

Hope it helps

Thanks for this. Have you asked Starnow to investigate?

I have messaged the girls I suspect are involved and asked them to remove the listing before this evening, and explained that it is unfair etc - they appear to be primary school!! so wanted to give them the chance to take it down without getting into too much hot water - do you think I should just report it? - I am a bit of a soft touch :)

That's kind of you, and I can appreciate why you would rather approach it that way, but it's Starnow I think should be "in trouble" to be honest! It seems madness to me that there is no kind of check on postings from Starnow (until a member of the public complains).

Apart from anything else, I think it makes Starnow look hopelessly unprofessional. You'd think that might concern them at least!

I also looked at these and heard 'bogus' bells ringing! The language used is very childish and who writes £100 as 'one hundred pounds a day'? The other one has all the same characteristics!

All sorted now - it was just a young girl who had no idea what she was starting :/ She is very sorry and wants to remove the listing but doesn't know how - it's obvious she meant no harm, don't think she will be doing that again! ;)

Is it just me or have there been an awful lot of short films revolving around prostitution, teen pregnancy or sexual abuse on Starnow lately ?
