Would you give someone else's child a lift to an audition?

This type of things seems to happen alot in South Wales, I have taken quite a few kids along with my dd as I understand it is so difficult for parents to drop everything. I dont mind as long as I am not taken advantage of and one day I might need the favour returned. Dont look at it as being competition for your dd as most Casting Directors are looking for that specific look. I understand how you feel and if its going to spoil your day its not worth it. You are restricted when you have other kids is tow, so just let the parent know that you have things to do after the audition. Good luck.

I agree with nutcracker that it has to come down to how well you know the parents and child. It wouldn't bother my ds or dd if the other child got through and not them as auditions are all about this anyway. Kids can learn from each situation and my kids are always pleased when friends do well. However, I also think you have to be careful that you don't feel put upon because resentment then might spoil what was a good relationship. I can also see grooveymother2's point of view in that complex situations can sometimes arise. Whatever you decide don't feel guilty either way and enjoy what should be a brilliant day. Best of luck

I totally agree with those who have said don't think if it as competition for dd -if dd is not right for the part then she is not right for the part.

I think if the circumstances were different I would help out, but in this case, I would have to do 3 different school pick ups , drive to station, get the girls changed somewhere, take train and bus, arrive at audition place for 5.30 in part of London unknown to me, and whose to say the 2 sisters wouldn't be nervous/sick/hungry/need the toilet/start arguing with each other/have a strop. I just don't know them at all well enough and feel I owe it to dd to be 100% able to support her.

Have you asked your dd what she thinks as she obviously will know the child better than you if they are in the same drama group. If she seems happy about it try asking how she would feel if the other child got a recall or was cast and she wasn't or vice versa. How does she think the other child would react to either senario? I was put in this position a few years back and didn't really know the other family but my dd assured me the child was a 'really nice girl' so I phoned and asked Mum to talk through the same things with her dd particually how she might feel if my dd was cast and not her child and she didn't have her mum there for support. In the end we went for it. Luckily both girls were cast although the friend had a bigger role. We then shared lifts and both families are now very good friends.
