Accent coach - irish midlands

Post by Amandapanda »

Hi,
Can anyone recommend an accent coach who's able to help with an Irish Midlands accent. Thank you.

Not sure where you are so hard to be specific however, have you tried approaching local universities or drama courses they usually have staff who can teach dialect? In the past I used the Central School of speech and drama in London. Also there are some very good websites that provide dialect tapes that help learn accents and dialects as well. Just listening to someone speaking can help as well so if you can find any voice recordings play them over and over. Many young people are very good mimics and learn that way. When my DS had to a Dorset accent for the BBC they sent him a short tape which we played over and over until he got the inflection nuances and before he started recording anything he would listen to it just to get the cadence right. It seemed to work and BBC radio are very fussy!

Thank you admin - this is basically what we did in the end - approached a drama school and they recommended someone. Dd had a Skype meeting with the dialect coach - things you can do now over the net lol
